Coronavirus - COVID19

ouch! what will all the homeless in SF do?!!!

Apparently they will be arrested for not owning a home.

So, Philly is actually doing the opposite of California. Reducing restrictions by not arresting for non-violent crimes. On the other hand, in California they may arrest you simply for not being in your home.

Yeah we know how Philly people act at eagles and Phillies games, bunch of dirty heathens.

In anchorage there’s the ‘stay away from gatherings’ and all but I have yet to see any police directives bold enough to look the other way for small crimes.

Need to ask the local stores about it but was also wondering if the lack of products still is a result of hoarding, or slowed shipments?

Yup...years ago I took my daughter to an Iggles game at FEDEX. One of those Monday night games where they crushed the Skns. Iggles fans wanted to pick fights after the game!

Just saw where Italy has surpassed China in virus deaths. I’ve never been there but is Italy’s healthcare like 3rd world bad? That stat doesn’t make sense to me considering it started in China

It's all about perspective.
This is very telling data
Recent, as of today.
Reliable source, as noted at the bottom.
And despite hitting way more countries than the other infections, CV has a FRACTION of the mortality rate.

I was there...horrible!

I tried to go to the Tech thread to post this, but I could not open that thread due to tech issues on the site.
The tech issues that kept me from even opening the thread are actually the same issues I was going to post about.
I can't be the only one - but ever since last night, about 80% of the time I try to click or display a page, I get the "500 Internal Server Error"
and the page will not display.
This thread opening on CV, was one of the few times I was able to open a thread since last night, so I figured I'd take advantage of posting this
since I did not know how long until the next time it would let me open the Tech thread.

It's my fault Fear. If I'd have known my return would break the damn place I wouldn't have come back.

We installed a file (or rather, our server host did) yesterday to speed up mobile version of the site. To install it, they had to uninstall a couple of files. This apparently crashed the site so we have asked them to revert us back to our previous settings. I believe they must've done that as the site is back up but I have not heard from them yet. The good news is that we significantly increased speed on mobile devices this week with some other changes. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you look at our BGO Facebook Page, that is where we communicate this kind of stuff if you find the site inaccessible.

I have learned something during this:

I need to become more self reliant and learn to do things for my family in case/when this does happen again.

Farming more
storing food more
brewing beer
getting a gas powered generator for the house

Everytime I get 500 Internal Server Error, I think I'm banned.
EDIT : Boone just an fyi, I just got that error message again. Just thought I'd mention it, since you said you recently tried something that you hoped would fix it, if I heard correctly.

What do you all think of this?

I think the national guard is just going to be used to keep quarantine sites safe....for now.

but, i have no doubt that they could be called in to do something more drastic if needed.

Same story, different day.

News : This state has a total of 117 cases testing positive. That is all we have to say.
Reality : As far as we know, 99.9999% of those cases could just get a runny nose, at worst.
M

Maybe they don't.
But ****in say so.
I don't think it breaks any HIPPA medical privacy to disclose how serious their case is.

It makes sense when you consider how untrustworthy China is. Their death toll is likely higher than what they claim. Believing their reported number would be like believing North Korea's claim that it doesn't have a single case.

They are trying to get people to stay indoors and away from others to kill off this virus. Why would they say anything to stop that?

Have you dealt with large groups of people who dont want to comply? Nobody owes you anything.

With the amount of panic that set in early, it's best to keep as many people off the streets as possible.

But there are certainly other agendas involved, that have little to do with public safety. However, they cannot be discussed on the board.
But they're there.

We don't treat the flu with anywhere near this level of panic - despite the fact that according to the CDC anywhere from 12,000 to 60,000+ Americans die annually from the flu depending on the severity of the strain. I think the right question when the current crisis subsides may turn out not to be 'Did we overreact to the COVID-19 pandemic?', but rather 'Why don't we react with anywhere near the focus to an annual pandemic (seasonal flu) that may kill exponentially more people?'

Perspective: We're at, what - 180+ deaths from COVID-19 in the US so far? Of course that could just be the beginning. But it's currently almost insignificant compared to flu mortality. In light of the current #'s, it's hard to logically understand what's going on.
