WP: Robert Griffin III Rookie of the Month

Do we know who came in 2nd? Kinda curious...

Can't find anything Om, other than the Defensive Rookie of the Month: Chandler Jones from New England.

I guess the list will come out later.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that fact that so far this kid actually HAS been as good advertised. How often does that happen?

Last year with Kerrigan... ;)

In news related to the thread topic:

Kerry Byrne of Cold Hard Football Facts, in an article in SI has an interesting section comparing how the rookie QBs are doing so far this season-through week 4.

The Rookie QB Report

Week 4 provided another mixed bag for the collection of rookie quarterbacks that we track right here each week.
Robert Griffin III's Redskins edged out the Buccaneers in Tampa, 24-22. Brandon Weeden's winless Browns fell just one play short of toppling the mighty Ravens in Baltimore, losing 23-16. Russell Wilson's bi-polar Seahawks, so good at home and so bad on the road, lost at St. Louis, 19-13. Ryan Tannehill's Dolphins put up a game effort at undefeated Arizona, before falling 24-21 in overtime. Andrew Luck and the Colts had the week off.
RGIII easily maintained his edge on the field, and remains one of the NFL's most efficient quarterbacks with a 103.2 rating (fourth league-wide).
He failed to throw a touchdown for the first time this year against the Bucs, but did run for a 5-yard score. More importantly, he led a drive from his own 20 to the Tampa 24 to set up Billy Cundiff's game-winning field goal with just three seconds to play.
Luck gained on the field by sitting down. He entered his bye week third among the rookie quarterbacks in passing efficiency behind RGIII and Wilson. But the Seahawks QB took a big step back with three picks at St. Louis, after throwing just one in his first three games.
Here's the rookie QB leaderboard through Week 4.

And his rushing TDs just throw him way over the top of those other QBs. Congratulations, can't think of a better kid that deserves all the accolades and success.

And here's to him winning this award in December! :claps:

The most impressive number on Griffin's stat sheet is "1", the number INT's he has thrown. Sure, he has a couple dropped by the other team but every QB in the league has had a couple dropped by the other team at this point.

He is ahead of the next best rookie QB in this category a factor of 4! Every week I see fans and experts predicting a 2 or more INT performance from Griffin and yet he just continues to avoid it. Amazing.

To expand on that a bit, Neo, here's a list of all the QBs in the league with over 100 attempts and one-or fewer-INTs.

Tom Brady

Matt Schaub

Robert Griffin III

Christian Ponder-unusually, he has yet to be intercepted (!)

Ben Roethlisberger

Alex Smith

Blaine Gabbert-kind of a surprise here.

Still, not bad company for a rookie QB with only four professional starts.

P.S., in case you were wondering, Matt Ryan has 2 INTs so far.

Unfortunately, he started his second month with a more rookie-like performance. He was impatient when he didn't need to be. His stupidity got himself knocked out. He cost his team trying to make a play that wasn't there. For all the smart things he has done so far, it was glaringly dumb what he did today.

He MUST learn to throw it away, and live for another play.
