In a therapeutic way, I'm trying to shift all the anger and frustration away from Morgan, Danny Smith, Finnegan, Goodell, Rams, etc, :)

As for the kneel-down controversy, for the most part I keep hearing the lone, silly argument against it, "Well, YOU wouldn't like it if another team did that to you !"

Would you ?

Would you scream injustice if a team bolted through your kneel-down, in attempt to possibly strip the ball ? And would you support the Skins doing so ?

I watched an ESPN commentary on it the other night, and practically the only opinion they had on that show, was from Schlereth, the bitter old man. He went on a 10-minute rant, full of harsh insults - and being an O-lineman, you can pretty much guess whose side he took.

My view ?

What's the point in even running the play, if you're going to expect the defense to be forced to concede defeat ? Fans pay to see multi-million dollar professional athletes perform, not watch "automatic plays" with "predictable results" where the offense is allowed to wuss out, and say, "Please don't hit me ! Please don't hit me !"

Yeah...I can see both sides.

On one hand, you've got a meaningless play that won't change the results of the game, with the potential for players getting injured.

On the other hand, leave the good old boy "unwritten rules" nonsense to the MLB. I hate that.

I lean towards the side of 'why risk injury' - seems like really stupid way to lose someone for the year with a knee injury or something. However I'm kind of surprised that this was such a big deal - I've seen this happen before against us (I would like to say it was the Giants, but not 100% sure on that) - its not like this was the first time this has ever happened. Don't really know why its such a controversy? I guess they just don't want to talk about how ****ty the refs are, who knows.

It's one of those things: it isn't illegal to do, but it is kind of a douchebag move as it gains nothing for trying it. I'm not against going hard through the line, as a botched snap can happen and that's not a bad thing to try for. However, if you are playing in a way that is going to injure other players by going for knees....I do have an issue there.

It's a situational thing where I stand. If you're loosing by more then 8 point, and there's under 20 seconds left, even if you were to strip the ball, and score, convert the two pointer, you still loose.

Now, if you're down by less then 8, deep in their teratory, I'd be inclined to go for it were a meaningful game. If I was already out of playoff contention, I'd likely not go for it.

Of course, if it's a divisional game, any time you get to take a shot at Eli, Romo, or Vicy, you do it.....

It was a punk move. The game was over.

that's okay :)

if Schiano doesn't want to see the kneel down, then he can see Peyton Manning or Tom Brady continuing to throw the ball down the field against his porous defense to pile on the points

like that better, Greg?

and stop talking about what you did at Rutgers.

please.

that's like talking about elementary school as a senior in high school.

Agree - it's situational. If you can tie or win with a TD, regardless of how 'likely it is', I think anything goes. Any coach bitching about it is the punk. The only reason there's more of an injury risk during those plays is because offensive players assume it's 'not a real play'.

If the games out of reach it's just silly.

Again, though, the same coaches when they are behind by double digits complain when opponents continue to play football for the full 60 minutes.

Instead of whining about stuff like this, how about getting your team to play better over the first 59:30 of the game?

510 yards passing by Eli Manning. Geez, that Bucs secondary makes the Redskins back 4 look like a group of Hall of Famers.

eh, i don't know. if they had caused a fumble, recovered it, and wound up winning all the talk wouldn't be about how bush league it is but instead about how smart they were to catch the giants off guard.

the solution for the team doing the kneel down is to actually play through that play - block, take an extra step back, secure the ball.

the solution for the team having to watch the kneel down is to play the previous 58 minutes better...

When you are paid millions to play 30 minutes of football each week, you would expect to play until the end. When a player is on $10million a year, and it's make an effort, take a breath, make an effort, take a breath, make an effort, have a seat, watch the defence, rinse and repeat, to play until the final whistle isn't too much to ask, surely.

AS SOON AS I saw the handle of my man from "Rugby Country", I KNEW that was the tough-man answer that would be forthcoming. Amen, dude !! :D

If we had players who just quit because it wasn't going to have an effect on the outcome, they would be watching from the stands the next week. Our elite players are lucky to be paid $700,000 a year, but they put in for the whole game. AND, they don't change sides when the offence takes over, or when they go three-and-out. Most players play the full 120 minutes, with a breather on the bench once, maybe twice, a quarter.
