Our family is leaving on Monday for Top Sail Island NC (really just a giant sand bar) and staying in a cabin for the week.

On the agenda:

Beach whenever the weather is permitting (This is more for my girls, but I'll get some quality reading time in too)

Going out on a Chartered Fishing boat for a day and cooking up the catch that evening with a local friend

Lots and Lots of fishing off the shore at the cabin, off the surf city pier nearby and maybe I'll dabble in some surf fishing too.

Tour some of the local sets where they are filming Revolution (studio is closed to tourists, which sucks. We almost got the girls parts as extras, but missed the casting call by a freaking day)

Bourbon and camp fire each evening:pint:

Hammock whenever possible!

I need this bad!

Are any of you getting into something fun next week?

Working (ugh) and counting down the days until...

P.S. I love that the Masters streams coverage for free.

Sounds like fun. Love Topsail, I used to work in Hampstead. What are ya fishing for? April 30th/May 1st is opening day for Sea Bass and Grouper. I try to make it to Wrightsville each year for that. I have my next home's down payment in hand and it will be in that area whenever this ride is done or maybe after the next. :) I lived there from 04-08 and miss it dearly. Would love to hear how you do! Boone and I have discussed getting together when I move back, we should get a little group together to go fishin! Have fun!

This is our first trip and the fishing was pretty last minute. I'm bummed that sea bass isnt in season! Thought thats what I would be going for. Now I'm not sure what we'll be trying for. My daughters are very excited for the trip, I sure need the down time too.

I'd love to get together if you all do!

Tonight - watching basketball.
Tomorrow - watching basketball. Going to dinner with my folks.
Sunday - Church. Watching basketball.
Next week - back to the usual routines.

Shoot BSB opening day is May 31 not May 1!!! Still Sucks. Well you can still catch the black sea bass and the grouper and you will catch a ton of them only a 5-12 miles out. Just can't keep them. :( Last couple of years we caught some of the biggest BSB I've seen in years so I begrudgingly admit that fisheries management seems to be getting it right sort of... Problem is the shark population has soared and you will catch plenty of those little SOBs too.

fryingpantower.com has a great forum with reports and a great online community.

I know there's an Orange Roughy joke in here to be had, just trying to be good.

Killing all the plants my mom has entrusted me with while she's on a 2-week vacation.

Id like to change my answer to:

Doing Goals mama.

I already had a slot reserved. Good thing she can multitask

You sound like my sister. She recently bought a house and had me come do all of her landscaping. New bushes, flowers, grass, mulch.........and asked me if I'd mind doing it again in a few weeks when it's dead

In all seriousness, I'm doing my regular routine of work, coaching softball, teaching gymnastics and babysitting my youngest niece. Sounds boring, but this is the type of spring break I've been waiting for for a few years now. :)

Haha! Yeppers. I'm not domestically inclined (although I'm working on it!) and thus far have been unsuccessful in keeping a plant alive more than 6 months. I actually started laughing when I walked into my mom's greenhouse: at least 6 of the plants were my plants in college that I tried my damnedest to euthanize during my enrollment. They were brought home with 1 or 2 wilting stems and my mom brought them back to life to the point that they're freaking palm trees now. It is not my duty to undue all her hard work :) For the record, I'm better than my aunt---she throws her house plants out about every 2 months and buys new ones haha!

My 7 year old son will be flying up tomorrow till sunday! I can't wait! Thursday night we are going to the Akron Arrows home opener (minor league baseball team).

I'm doing jack squat. I'm going to the Dominican Republic for my Honeymoon in august, so that is my vacation this year.

Wish we had just stayed home to be honest. Every plan I made is trashed due to weather. Very bummed.

Sorry to hear that SS.. :(

Thanks man, it happens. I think this is the last attempt I make to do a family vacation during the kids spring break. 3 years in a row of cold weather. This time, we have literally been house bound with little to do in the area that doesnt involve the sun.

Gotta love dropping thousands of dollars to do what you would be doing at home anyway.

Dang, that sucks SS. Sorry to hear that.

Reminds me of when I lived in Hawaii in the summer of 2006 - it rained literally for close to 50 straight days. I remember not liking the tourists, but I genuinely felt bad for all of those who came to Hawaii for beautiful beaches and hikes and weather, and got nothing but rain for the week or two they were there.

Just a couple more days of this nightmare vacation.

Today's pleasant addition to the freezing cold and rainy weather was a call from a perfect stranger saying they have our dog.

My brother in law's family was supposed to be watching our dog while we are out of town in return for us watching theirs next month when they go.

The catch, they decided to take a weekend vacation to the mountains too.

They left my dog in their backyard for the weekend apparently.

Livid is the least description I can come up with at the moment.
