On how guard Kory Lichtensteiger looked today:
“He was fine. He was ready to go.”
On linebacker Brian Orakpo, cornerback Josh Wilson and safety Brandon Meriweather:
“Everybody is fine. But obviously Brandon is out.”
On Executive Vice President/General Manager Bruce Allen’s statement that the team is meeting with former tight end Chris Cooley next week:
“I’m not sure when that is to be honest with you. I’ve been pretty busy this week getting ready for a game. We’ve always left the door open for Chris.”
On what would make him want to bring Cooley back:
“First off, we gave him an opportunity to see if there’s anything out there where he’s got a chance to start. I think that’s the main thing. He’s going to weigh his options. I’m sure he’s looking at his options with different teams right now – who’s going to need a tight end, what’s going to happen maybe after this week. He’ll probably weigh all his options, and then obviously we are going to look at our options as well. We had three tight ends, so it’s not like we’re very deep at the position. We brought somebody in that’s not used to our system. With one fullback, it’s not very deep. There are a lot of possibilities. I can’t tell you for sure what’s going to happen at this time, but we’d like to have as many options as possible. As you mentioned, we’ll get a chance to talk next week.”
On the Saints being motivated by the punishment handed out by the league:
“I think it makes you focus. Especially if you feel like something is wrong or wasn’t fair. I think sometimes it can bring a football team together. You go through a tough situation and it’s a rallying cry for people, especially if they feel like they’ve been wronged in some way. I think it just makes you focus more as a team.”
