If cows can't eat it, then they shouldn't be playin' on it.

Redskins general manager Bruce Allen stated on Thursday that he admitted that the Redskins missed their chance to re-sod the field at FedEx Field before the 2012 season and the team plans to re-sod based on the team's schedule for the 2013 season.

Paulsen also tweeted a message to the fans that are disappointed that the Redskins have decided not to make the switch to turf for the 2013 season, saying they shouldn't be surprised due to head coach Mike Shanahan's preference for grass fields.

What Redskin fan would be dissappointed with natural grass?

The problem with our field wasnt that its a natural grass field, its that it was a terribly maintained grass field. If the skins committ to better upkeep we should be pleased. Thats the correct decision.

Artificial turf aint for real men.

I don't care what anyone says. I like how our field gets torn up and chewed up for late season football. It's mostly sand anyway. The injuries that occurred during the playoff game had nothing to do with the surface and we wouldn't be having this conversation if it weren't for a few cry babies from Seattle so used to fake turf who never had to play on a field like this. **** em!

Playing a playoff game on a chewed up field is no worse than playing a Super Bowl in a cold weather venue, right Mr. Mara?

I'm starting to value Snyder's **** everyone else attitude. That is until the media and opposing fans start bagging on us again for having a ****ty field.

Allen said that the problem with the turf was simply that they 'missed' their window to re-sod it. Apparently they re-sod it halfway through the season every year, and last year they didn't get to.

He didn't elaborate on why they missed their window.

My opinion - why don't we quit whoring the stadium out to every college football game and concert that will pay Snyder money and start taking care of it and prepping it for its intended purpose: redskins football games.

Running white whale stadia like FedEx is expensive. I don't have a problem with them using it to its fullest capabilities, but I also expect them to take appropriate steps to ensure a professional-grade playing surface for their prime tenant.

I think both are possible. I suspect Snyder does too.

Someone ****ed up this year ... I don't think it will happen again.

You have to admit that half way through the season almost no one thought the Skins would be playing in the post season, much less hosting an opening round game. Without putting the field under that microscope, we aren't having this discussion now.

According to Sheehan et al of ESPN980, Shanny had no problem with the field. Shanny also does not like "turf", as per old school, he feels that the harder surface is rougher on the players injury wise.

Don't know if Shanny is doing coach/company speak after the fact but if anyone could have made the call to re-sod, he could.

According to "sources" the typical expense to re-sod is roughly $60K a pop and the window opportunity was just after the Ravens game to have it ready for the final homegame with the Pokes.

Don't some stadiums have heated fields, I would imagine that sod would have a better chance to take hold with a heated surface.

It is amazing, and seems too coincidental to actually be a coincidence, that the media talking heads who were drooling at the mouth to write the worst stories they could about the team, franchise, and owner are now resorting to a full on assault of our name, logo, and field because our play and record are not easily negatively manipulated in a journalistic hack-crucifiction article after last season. The media, especially that waste of toilet paper called the Post, truly have it out for Snyder and this team. **** them. I enjoy watching them resort to complete idiocy to try to bring us down.

This exactly! You know, the team you own, Dan? :twitch:

I hope the hell SB Sunday is 22 degrees with snow flurries and 30 MPH winds. That will be the last time you'll see the game played up north without a dome.

Flurries? I want to see a foot of snow!
