REDSKINS SIGN OL CHRIS CAMPBELL
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent offensive lineman Chris Campbell. The team also waived/injured wide receiver Darius Hanks.
Campbell (6-5, 328) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Green Bay Packers on April 30, 2010. He was added to the team’s practice squad on Sept. 5, released on Sept. 23 and re-signed to the practice squad on Sept. 29. He was released by the Packers on Sept. 3, 2011, before re-signing to the team’s practice squad on Nov. 8. He was released by the Packers on May 14, 2012.
Campbell, 25, played collegiately at Eastern Illinois, where he played in 30 games with 16 starts during his career. He started 12 games his senior season in 2009, earning second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors and helping the Panthers win the conference with a 6-2 record and advance to the FCS playoffs.
He attended Marshall H.S. in Chicago, where he was a four-year letterman on the offensive and defensive lines and also lettered twice in wrestling and once in volleyball. He was born on Sept. 22, 1986.
Hanks (6-0, 185) originally signed with the Redskins as a college free agent on May 3, 2012.
