REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES​

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that the team has signed defensive end Doug Worthington to its active roster from the team’s practice squad and signed linebacker Markus White to its active roster from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad. The Redskins also signed defensive lineman Dominique Hamilton to their practice squad.

The team also placed defensive end Adam Carriker and linebacker Brian Orakpo on the Reserve/Injured list.

Worthington (6-5, 311) joined the Redskins via waiver claim from Tampa Bay on Aug. 6, 2011. He spent the majority of the 2011 season on the Redskins’ practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Dec. 20, 2011 and was inactive in the team’s final two games. He signed to the Redskins’ practice squad this season on Sept. 3, 2012.

White (6-4, 264) was originally drafted by the Redskins out of Florida State in the seventh round (224th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent all of the 2011 season on the Redskins’ active roster, appearing in two games. He was waived by the Redskins on Aug. 31, 2012, and signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad on Sept. 3.

Hamilton (6-5, 315) entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Oakland Raiders on May 11, 2012. He played collegiately at Missouri, where he appeared in 46 career games with 32 starts. He amassed 140 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in his career, earning All-Big 12 honors from conference media in his senior season in 2011.

Carriker (6-6, 305) was in his sixth NFL season and had appeared in 34 games with 33 starts since joining the Redskins via trade prior to the 2010 season. The 28-year-old defensive end posted a career-high 5.5 sacks last season.

Orakpo (6-4, 257) was in his fourth NFL season. The 26-year-old linebacker has appeared in 49 games with 49 starts for the Redskins since being selected by the team in the first round (13th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. Including a sack registered this past weekend, Orakpo has 29.5 career sacks.

Glad to have White back but at terrible cost.

Worthington appeared last year at 6'4 and 292. If he is up at 310 that should help him in the 3-4.

I said it in another thread, but I'll say it again. I like Worthington, and hope he can earn some playing time. I think he can be a surprise contributor on D, but has been stuck in a crowded position until now. Sad that his opportunity had to come at the expense of Carriker, but I'm not sure anyone expected to win this season anyway.

I would like to see Baker as well.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

BTW, any mention of the special teams coach and Def coordinator may also include secondary coach. No adjustments made by any of these guys. Frankly, at halftime, I want these guys to report to Shanahan with the proposed adjustments for 2nd half. We need some accountability.

Danny Smith is like J Edgar Hoover. He stays while a generation of Presidents come and go.

Smith and Haslett should be further along in molding their units and having them lead the team.

The offense is integrating a new qb, rb and wrs while the ST/defense returned most of their starters.

That's good and all, but it will probably be offset by the insight he already gave them about us. :-/
