PFT: Byron Westbrook says his brother is ready to go

Washington Redskins cornerback Byron Westbrook doesn't know if his brother, running back Brian Westbrook, will sign with the Redskins after visiting on Wednesday. But he says he does know that his brother is ready to play after a 2009 season...

So what does this say about our current crop of RB's that we're still bringing in other RB's?

Uh, well..maybe Shanny wants to leave himself as many potential options as possible during the winnowing down process? I'm not sure if the possible addition of Westbrook says anything in particular about what he's seen so far, basically. He said he wanted competition at every position and I guess he may just be taking a "The more the merrier" approach.

I think this visit was done out of respect and a favor. With Shanahan looking at him generated caused a couple teams to get froggy and show more interest. All we did was push Denver's button. Read where they wanted him out there as soon as possible.

Westbrook wasn't getting any real interest until came here.

He was at an event with Bruce Allen. I don't think he was necessarily "brought it", per se.

Plus we have his bro on the team and he is a local guy.

The problem with signing another RB like WB is that he won't play ST. We can't carry that many RBs on the roster unless we plan on dropping one of the other guys (Willie would make the most sense, I guess).

Westbrook is a great receiver out of the backfield, a skill neither Portis or Johnson has exhibited.

While Westbrook is likely to sign elsewhere, this could show some concern over the status of Willie Parker.

Parker is the veteran whose skills most align with Westbrooks'.
