here's hoping hunter smith doesn't even set foot on the field tonight...

I'm just ready to see some football, even if it is kinda sorta play fake football

Never understood 'game threads' when you've got a chat room?

Somebody didn't read the Game Day Info thread. Tsk. ;)

Two pass plays, two good protections.

Woot.

No 3rd down defense yet. Good to see from movement up front on pass plays though. Cornelius looks as quick as I've seen in a couple years.

3rd and goal ... be nice to hold this opening drive to 3.

Nice. DeAngelo feelin' it.

nice secondary play

Springsteen wrote a song entitled: 500 channels and nothings on.

He must be an out of town NFL football fan,

Yep - you'd think with the appetite out there, even for pre-season games, that the networks would be all over these games.

Sounds like the offense has picked up where it left off.

First *grr* of 2009 ... we're losing on 3rd down. Both sides of the ball. Deja vu.

Sonny said JC missed a wide open Thomas for an easy TD on the play he hooked up with Randle El on.

Wow. Defense looks silly. Looks like Blache is just lining them up in base 4-3 and having them run after the ball. No pass rush, too many isolated receivers. Good thing it's preseason and they're not really trying. Ahem.

Yeah, Jason looked real sharp in the first drive, but showed the same bad habit of holding too long (and perhaps not seeing the field if Sonny's right) on the second. Problem is they haven't converted any 3rd downs so he hasn't had any chance to find a rhythm.

Really, really vanilla stuff on both sides of the ball though. Looks like the Skins are treating this as a scrimmage.

What's Orakpo looking like?

The D looks a lot like they did last year, bend but don't break. But it is the same ole' thing with the offense, 3 and out and put the D back on the field. I know it is only pre-season, but it is shaping up exactly like last year.

I want to be wrong about Jason Campbell soooooo much, but it just looks like more of the same!

I'm following the game from web page to web page.....hard to tell what's going on. But, just from the game summaries, it does seem pretty similar to last year. Bend but don't break defense....offense pretty anemic. I'm thrilled to see the numbers on the punter, but at the same time hate seeing the punter quite so often.

I've got this Tivo'd tomorrow at noon....I'll watch tomorrow night....see what I see.

I WOULD like to see Thomas and Kelly get some balls thrown their way, though.

The defense, up until the last couple of plays, never got out of a base 4-3. Back seven playing deep. I don't know Baltimore well enough to know what their usual preseason approach is on offense, but they're definitely taking advantage of all the space we're giving them.

Hard as it is for us fans to watch, I'm thinking Blache doesn't care if he gives up 40 points. He wants to look at guys in certain sets and how they react. Same on offense. No changes of pace, nothing unpredictable.

Washington is giving vanilla a bad name. :)
