most frustrating movie ever?

what I mean by this is...the way the plot unfolds...you see everything that is going to happen...but the protagonist just doesn't get it...because of some character flaw or weakness...until the last moment. early into the film you're thinking "you dumb arse...if I was there I'd knock you silly. you're causing all this misery cuz you won't respond."

for me...the hands down winner is....drum roll...."Straw Dogs"

Most frustrating off the top of my head? Pursuit of Happyness. You spend half the movie just feeling for the guy to the point it pisses you off the crap he has to go through.

Assume you're talking about the remake version, right Al?

Yeah...Old Country had that feel, although that movie was so damn dark and disturbing I was almost glad it was over. I think there are two kinds of these sorts of 'let down' movies. One kind leaves you with the feeling that the storyline hasn't reached resolution. The other kind resolves the storyline, but it's dissatisfying for one reason or the other. Sam Raimi's 'A Simple Plan' with Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton falls into that second category for me. I love that movie, but definitely not a 'feel good' ending.

I'll be curious to see what folks come up with here...

And for a non-movie, the last episode of the Soprano's was really dissatisfying for me. It was very dark, and left too many open questions. Biggest cop-out ending in TV history if you ask me.

Dustin Hoffman/Susan George...Peckinpah film Boone.

never viewed Old Country...will have to pick up a copy.

Yeah...I'm a fan of the original with Dustin, I assumed you meant the new one. Honestly, it's been 20 years since I watched the Peckinpah version, can't remember the ending...

Should've said 'No Country' (for Old Men). Definitely worth watching. It's a Coen brother's film - enough said there. The villian, played by Javier Bardem, is one of coldest, creepiest bad guys since Henry Fonda in 'Once Upon a Time in the West'. Ice ****ing cold.

The Devil's Advocate. Of course the devil can manipulate you if you're a selfish prick.

You must not have watched The Shield. One of the most epic storylines for a series in television history, and ends the only way that wasn't possible.

Capricorn One.

This movie had so much potential for a number of reasons. A good cast. Good plot potential. And so on. It was like someone who had all the ingredients to make the perfect meal, but forgot to cook it properly.

Atonement. The first time I watched it, I left pissed at Briony (Cecelia's little sister) for never telling the truth and letting Robbie get in trouble. Then the second time I watched, I got even more pissed at that little ***** Lola (the red-headed chick) who knew the truth all along and never said anything. Just thinking about it now is making me angry!

To me it's Donnie Darko.

Great call. I've heard so many people talk about how awesome Donnie Darko is - but it just left me scratching my head. Maybe I need to watch it again, who knows.
