CAMP VERDE, Arizona (AP) — A member of an elite group of Marines who developed a code based on their native language during World War II has died.

Lloyd Oliver's death Wednesday means that only one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers survives.

Oliver's nephew, Lawrence, says his uncle died at a hospice center in the Phoenix suburb of Avondale, where he had been staying for about three weeks. He was 88 years old.

Slowly but surely, we are losing our best. Thanks to all of these men for their service - it is a remarkable story.

Hopefully, the last one will be around for a good bit longer.

We are all excited to experience the announcement of draft selections IN REAL TIME TOGETHER. If you feel the need to be the first to 'blurt out' the team's picks you are better off staying out of chat and sticking to Twitter. Please refrain from announcing/discussing our picks until the official announcement has been made at the podium. Thanks!
