Btw Nathan, feel especially bad that we're closing it down since you just reconnected with us. Sorry for that :(

No hard feelings at all, I love you guys and appreciate everything you were able to accomplish for us. This will always be home. Thanks for the memories.

I'm not sure I have ever posted on this site, but it's full of my favorite people from the old Extremeskins. I saw the “we are closing” email and wanted to pop over and tip my cap. Wonderful work, and best of luck on the journey ahead.

Sorry to hear this, but we still can carry our discussions together in our thoughts.

Won't forget the time spent here.

Let's hope the next few months leads is off in a direction of hope.

My Lord! I can't believe no one has suggested some sort of get together. Perhaps a tailgate next year. If I recall, most of us provided an e-mail address when we registered.

I debated whether or not to respond......not explaining why. Suffice to say, above and beyond the Skins banter, I crossed paths with Boone and OM early on in their journey through the dark byways of on-line sports communities. Can't recall the forumn. I rememner characters like Art and his "swarm". It was fun for me to watch Boone's journey fulfilling a dream. I too was a refugee from the ego driven blowhards at ES. Some of the sharp edges were a residual carry-over from that site - for which I inevitably served my time in the BGO penalty box. But Boone, a better man than most, welcomed me back to his cyber house with dignity and kindness. And that, above all else, will be my lasting memory.

Thank you Boone. You tried to manage human behavior, sometimes successfully, because you had to to maintain a culture of civility and respect. You provided vistas into your life and how you looked at the world. We got to watch you reveal your emotions. You provided a platform for us to share ours.

Bravo Zulu my friend! You made our lives richer (even if we made yours poorer...pocketbook wise that is). A respectful hat tip to you.

I won't have any rules in the group other than maintaining the same respect you all have given me over the years. All are welcome. My name is Brian Schurman, feel free to send me a FB friend request. I hope to see you there.

But which Brian Schurman are you EL? There are like 3 of them.

Is it possible to make that group public for the time being and then go private once the site closes ?

Look for mutual friends, or for the grey beard with my son on my shoulders profile pic.

Goodbye, everyone. I still post over at Extremeskins if you want to say hello, even though today is the first (almost) full game I've watched in three years. I just got into the habit of not watching and my quality of life didn't diminish. Sad to see this place close but with Twitter and reddit and the main site still operational, it seems like the end of the age of multiple fan message boards.

You all have amazing dedication. I have been a fan of the team for as long as I can remember, but at ES and of course here I've always found some great conversations and discussions about the team, which has given us all something good to come out of our fandom. That is a good thing, and after ES started to show some cracks like a house settling maybe a big too much over time, it was nice that you all started this site. As others have said, you are owed at the least a thank you, and a lot of appreciation for everything you did to keep this site not just running, but frankly a great place to catch up and engage in good discourse on a whim.

Thanks for everything you have done, sincerely.

What sad news. While I completely understand your sentiment Mark and John (I have been in that frame of mind for a couple of years now), this has become my home on the net for Redskins related things. It will be like going off to college and your parents sell the house and move away. Can't blame them but boy is that place missed, and going back to your hometown is never the same again. Thanks for everything all of you have done to make this place a wonderful source for Redskins news, and friendship. I don't do facebook much at all but I'll go ahead and jump in the group anyway. It's too bad we don't have a good opportunity to all get together for one last tailgate. Thanks again folks, it's been great!

I've not had anyone inquire. I think there would be a significant learning curve in terms of the software and server stuff unless someone already had experience. I'm not interested in training a new owner so that's probably unlikely to happen. Doesn't mean we wouldn't be open to talk about it, but it would have to involve a painless handoff.

Truth is, if someone did want to carry on the site/concepts, I'd recommend what I was contemplating which is to move away from the vBulletin software and move to the Xenforo product which is much better and fully supported. If we were going to co to ur that's something we'd be in the planning stage for.

It's expensive to run a website - you're looking at $3000-$4000/year out of pocket at a minimum of you are going to do it right. And then there's the time commitment.

You put that all together vs. how many members will actually commit to using the site, for me the math no longer adds up.

You guys can close the site, but you can't close it by that date. It will be too early for @Henry to proclaim that he was right about Quinn.
Quinn needs at least one more year to prove he's the next Julian Edelman. So you all have to delay closing at least one more year, so I can have the last word with Henry !

I cannot blame you, its hard to even stay motivated as a Skins fan. but this was by far the best Redskins discussion group. I got banned despite being a founding member at extremeskins, because some loser admin got butthurt when I posted that the switch to a 3-4 was perhaps the worst decision in the history of the team.

losing this place is pretty much where it ends for me, I will probbaly watch the odd game on TV but I will never travel to watch a game again, I think after being a fan since 1982, I will probbaly not even really follow the team anymore, I hardly watch football anymore, I no longer play, I think its safe to say my love of the game has been beaten out of me by this teams shittitude.

I had no idea that it cost 4 k a year for this forum, so I gotta say thank you for sticking it out as long as you have.
