A moment of clarity about Dan Snyder, and me

Here we go, time for a much-needed post from me about the owner of the Washington Redskins.

I've been having long conversations with my mom about being a better person. We came to the conclusion that I not only need to change some things about my life, but that I also need to let go of all the things that keep me from being the person I need to be. So I got to thinking, all of our lives are intertwined in that way. I started thinking about all of the things and people that held me back, and Dan Snyder came to mind. I started thinking about all of our times together while I was a Redskin. And you know what? It wasn't all that bad.

My relationship -- or lack thereof -- with Daniel Snyder has been well documented. I have been one of his biggest critics over the years. Look, I've given my body for the Redskins and their fans, and I only have a few regrets. And I'm burying them here in this post, for them to be dead and gone forever. So here they are for your viewing pleasure...

Thoughts that occured to me while reading this.

- LaVar thinks he is still relevant to Redskins football

- LaVar is glad Dan Snyder is changing and growing up

- LaVar does not own a mirror

That is all.

THe guy SUCKS at making amends. He and Brian Mitchell are of the same mold. Once you leave and bad-mouth the organization, you should never be allowed back. They're both whiney, bitter shells of their former selves. Can't stand either one and will never listen to them on the radio.

not another one of these threads. had enough of these over at that "other board"

Om - wouldn't you say consistently being hired as CSN commentator, DC Sports radio talk show host, and now Washington Post blogger would give you some pretty valid credentials in the "relevant to the Redskins" category? I would say so. People listen to his opinions, and that's why he continues to get work.

If you're not interested, find another thread.

Easy.

Lavar is one former Redskin which I take whatever he says with grain of salt. He has a higher opinion of himself than I do.

Guys - not beating on you, please don't misunderstand...

We try hard not to edit/direct content - that's all. As long as somethings not totally over the line, we feel like this is your all's site and we aren't going to *direct* things in some heavy-handed way. That's all I was saying.

I don't really have a problem with guys like Lavar or Mitchell. The fact that once their career was over they decided to come back here and identify themselves as Redskins makes them ok in my book.

As far as this specific issue goes, well, I didn't realize there was still bad blood there. I guess I'm glad Lavar is working it out, but to be honest it wasn't something that was keeping me up at night. :)

a wise man speaks!

I really don't have a problem with LA or BM either. But I would like to see LA work things out with Coach Gibbs.

I think it's bigger of the team to allow them back after what they said. It may just be that no one else would claim them and that's why they came crawling back. What some claim as insight from these guys, I consider spew. They go out of their way to criticize the team and throw crap out there just to get ratings. The Skins' feud with the Post is far from over. Adding Lavar as a blogger is evidence of that. The Post is now trying to use the feud to their advantage. Pissing the fans off creates negative reactions and, thusly, draws attention to themselves.

They are like kids who crave attention. Even negative attention is better than no attention at all. This is why I won't listen and try not to respond to anything they have to say. I hate to say it but I'd rather listen to a blatant homer with less insight than a Negative Nellie with a lot of insight.

My original post was perhaps a bit to cryptic ...

The intent was simply to poke LA in the ribs for 2 reasons:

One, based on everything I have ever heard the man say, he is about as self-centered as anyone I have ever run across.

Two, I thought his releasing a self-serving piece about how much he thought someone else had grown up, in this case Dan Snyder, had a certain ironic quality to it I am quite sure escaped him.

That is all. :)

A-freakin-men!

As far as the bashing nature of this goes...as long as Lavar keeps running his mouth the way he does the "bashing" is going to continue to be completely appropriate. As tired as folks are of guys like this getting bashed, I can guarantee I am well beyond that point listening to this walking turd lie, obfuscate, spin and take the bashing of the Redskins to heights unrivaled. The guy is a legend in his own mind and it's about time he shuts the F up.

soooo...all the fans who have basically been saying the same things about the organization over the last 2-3 yrs...in fact were protesting AT GAMES...they get a free pass?

DOUBLE STANDARD.

I see that "Hater aid" is in full effect here. Guess I am in the minority of people that still like Lavar.

Double standard for sure Fan.

Considering that most have said they won't listen or haven't, how would you know what is said and that they are hating on the team on the radio? Up until about three weeks ago, I would listen every day [changed jobs so not on the road as much] and I would agree with a large part of what was said.

It just seems to me that unless you are going to have something positive to say, Redskins fans for the most part don't want to hear it.

I agree with Henry on these guys, and I prefer my news like my coffee. Hold the sugar. It is what it is.

Mike, while I don't believe I am a true pessimist in life, I have soured when it comes to our team. I will admit I am quick to criticize. For the past 20 years I have seen so much that has caused me to shake my head! I am tired of watching this team, the team I grew up watching have tremendous success, turn into a laughing stock in the league.

As for Lavar, I am not a huge fan, but I do listen occasionally and he does seem to tell the truth. A truth that may not be easy to digest, that may not be easy to hear from a "turncoat", but definitely true. I wanted nothing more than to see he and Pierce both fail in NY. Nothing worse than a FA going to the enemy. I am the last person to refuse giving anyone a second chance. Lavar is a Redskins' fan. Is he arrogant and self-centered? Yes! Is he a young man who has more to learn about life? Yes! Does he know football? Absolutely!

When I was living in Florida, I heard a lot of negative opinion about B-Mitch over at the other site. When I returned to the area, I listened to him and wondered what they were talking about. He is no doubt egotistic! But he does know what he is talking about. That is much of what I hear from Lavar. He will tackle Redskins' topics that you sure as **** won't see Larry Michaels talk about on Redskins' Report! Have you ever seen how homeristic he is on that show? It is sickening! I can't watch. At least with Lavar and B-Mitch, I know I will get something genuine. It may not be what we want to hear, they may be struggling to deal with their own mortality, but they know football and I will continue to listen.
