Griff will practice per CSN

Having a legitmate threat behind center makes this team watchable. The idea of this Redskin pass defense, with this pass-protecting OL, against even a meh team like the Vikings, at home to boot, with either Rex or The Rookie Not Named Bob at QB?

Yuck.

All morning on sports talk radio people were saying that Griffin shouldn't play even if cleared. I don't understand the argument. If an independent neurologist has cleared him and that's not good enough then what metric do you want to use? And how do you look at the other 52 players and tell them that if they were medically cleared after brain trauma you'd expect them to play, but that this one player isn't expected to play?

I hope Griffin has learned his lesson. Hall said on the radio yesterday that Griffin apologized to the team, saying he understood how important he is to the team and that he needs to play smarter. I hope he means that. I don't want this to make him gun shy, I just want him to realize that 3rd and goal from the 5, 3rd quarter, in a close game, with 3 defenders between you and the endzone and no blockers is not a good time to try and make a play.

tshile, first of all I think in the history of sports, teams have generally tried to get the best players on the field no matter what, and not the other way around.

Secondly, if you are suggesting that less important players are going to resent stars getting special treatment ... well ... then they should try another profession.

Lastly, I don't think anyone should have to take the field right after a concussion.

I may be wrong about this, but the elephant in the room is that we still don't fully understand concussions or their ramifications. That alone should be enough to sit him for a game or two, IMO.

Right, well I'm talking about what I've seen people post on here and what they're talking about on the radio. I don't think the team will actually do it, I'm commenting on what I've seen others suggest the team should do.

And it's not about resentment, it's about sending a clear message that you value one person's mental health over another. We're not talking about a muscle injury that if re-injury happens means more therapy and down time; we're talking about long term mental issues that there are some indications can lead to suicide. It's a bit of a different issue to me. I'm not suggesting it's wrong to think that way either, I'm saying that I could not look 52 other guys in the eye and say I value Griffin's long term mental health so much that I wont let him play even if he's medically cleared but that if any of the other 52 were medically cleared I'd expect them to play. If you could do that, then that's fine; I couldn't. (you in the general sense, not you specifically. you've already said you don't think anyone should play this close to a concussion)

As for your last point I have no idea how long people should wait. I'm not a doctor and have no expertise in the field of brains or concussions. I'm just asking what metric you want to use if being medically cleared by an independent neurologist isn't enough?

I don't know. What I do know is that the NFL has a long history of ignoring concussions and now we've got literally thousands of former players suing the league because of this. Whatever the NFL has done as far as medically clearing players with concussions to play, well, it hasn't been enough. To put it bluntly, I don't trust them.

Until they do figure out how to properly handle head injuries, I don't think a mandatory one game recovery period is too much to ask.

Jeebus Flickin Crispies!

If the doctors clear him, he plays.
