OK. This is gonna be a numbers-driven post. Revenge of the Nerds-stuff. OK, got the pop-culture thing out of the way.

All the talk this week has been about McNabb vs. Shanahans, and for good reason. Mike Shanahan has to send Brad Childress a thank you card for knocking him off the top of the font page on Monday. My original focus of this piece was going to be to figure out who was right and wrong and all that. Then it morphed into proving that McNabb hasn't been a good QB this year.

Gonna change focus again and look at the O-line.

Newsflash: they ain't great.

Looking at FootballOutsiders.com, check out their stats on the O-line. Or don't, and let me summarize.

Our line ain't great.

OK, fine. I can elaborate.Let's look at pass blocking quickly.

23 sacks given up on 7.3% of our plays. NFL average is 16 and 6.4%, respectively. Ouch.

Onto the rushing game, there were four stats that smacked me in the head when I saw them:

Great post Goaldeje. I love F.O. and peruse their rankings and articles whenever I can. With that said, I hadn't checked them out recently but our poor OL ranking hardly surprises me. I had also noticed anecdotally that the running game seemed to fare better with Heyer in the game and to a certain degree, to his side of the field.

What that makes me wonder is, given his shortcomings in pass protection whether Heyer might be an option at OG for next season. I'm also curious about whether Dockery might be able to cut it at RT. I know he's a bad fit for Shanny's scheme and all, but I'm grasping at straws here. :help:

If Dock moved to right tackle and Heyer moved to OG, where would Brown play? And do we have any info on whether he is being benched for performance issues or health problems?

I would like to see us keep Dock for depth, if he is versatile enough to play a couple of positions. I've always liked him, and haven't been able to figure out if he is really so much worse than Licthensteiger, who seemed to roll out the red carpet for Det last week.

And, thanks. :)
