Not. ready. for. prime. time.

the funniest thing is that its not our rookie QB who he was talking about Griff looks like he was possibly worth it, like he is gonna be the guy who changes my mind about Qb's entirely.

What was disturbing was a guy like amendola looked like Jerry Rice/ randy moss against our defence, that at key moments our defence was break and bend, we just looked thoroughly outcoached.

On Offence, RG3 is under pressure way too much, he has handled it very well and our backs could benefit from having an actual hole, way too many times im seeing morris get 2-3 yards after being hit behind the LOS ffs.

what we have right now is a team with some massive holes, holes that are not easy to fill, so we will have games where we will have our hearts broken.

I am still angry, I want this team to be better, I am pissed that we wasted the first year of this regime, im pissed that Haslett seems to be exactly who I thought he was, only this game he didnt even do the one thing he was good at , and thats motivate his guys.

I am torn between Oline and secondary, but at least the secondary can look ok as long as we generate pressure, but haslett needs to learn how to adjust and how to scheme far better or we need to get someone who will.

Griffin is going to die behind that line. Our "best" offensive lineman, Trent Williams, got whipped like a redheaded step child out there. AWFUL.

Secondary was atrocious. Atrocious!

Bottom line - we saw exactly what we expected to see, didn't we? Bad secondary, shaky as hell O-Line? It was just a week late. On the bright side, take away a dumber-than-a-brick personal foul at the end, and we were a play or two away from a win at best, OT at worst. It's going to be a roller coaster ride of a season.

I still think this team read the press clippings from last week and didn't come in here with any respect for another NFL team. Haslett's game plan of soft zone played pe7rfectly into the hands of a qb and OL that had been beat to hell the previous week.

The Rams were starting 2 guys on the OL that may not belong in the NFL. But we let them off the hook by rushing 3 or 4 and dropping 7-8 into coverage. Against whom?

Amendola? Give me a break.

And as far as the special teams go, if you are going to release the kicker because he isn't consistent enough then you have to get rid of the ST coach whose teams consistently give opponents a free 7 points each week off blocks.

The bottom line for me, is that we absolutely went all in with rg3, so why the holy hell did we not do everything possible to improve the Oline? we spent as much as we did because we expect him to be around, if he gets beat up like that every day, it will be a short career. the man is a superlative athlete, but he is not 6-5 260.

if there had been no Olinemen available, then fine, I know we got screwed by the maras and goodell but ffs you do whatever you can to improve the guys who keep your QB alive.

I think we will look good against teams that are struggling but against teams with any sort of coaching and talent? we will lose. we just lost to a team we should have beaten and beaten badly.

that still doesn't explain the blocked punt and the poor special teams.

without those points the Rams don't win the game.

Still not sure why we didn't play the Rams defensively the way we played the Saints. When you get to Bradford early, his effectiveness for the remainder of the game is diminished. Should have blitzed the hell out of him with that replacement O-Line. Terrible defensive game plan from Haslett.

Looks like more of the same old, same old for the rest of the year but at least RG3 will keep us in games and give us a chance. It's like the Redskins of the late 60's.

Terrible o line, terrible secondary, and even worse game calling. Hasletts inability to come up with a plan b and adapt his game plan... Danny Smith's inability to get his team to perform the most basic aspects of football.

The Rams were on their third string oline and still got their lines to perform better than we did. The blocks have got to stop.

Yeah seriously...Haslett is the only DC in the league who takes 31 points to realize his zone is getting KILLED and switch to man.

Defense reminded me too much of Baylor's last year. How can we look so soft this week after we played so well last week? Very disappointed.

some of the guys have stated the problem, HASLETT, he is a terrible Dc for a reason. ffs last week we showed that we could hide our terrrible secondary by using a 4 man front and blitzing out of it. we generated pressure and our secondary still made mistakes but didnt look bad. then this week I counted at least 6 times that we rushed THREE , and several more where we rushed 4. Bottom line if we try to run a 3 man front and dont blitz then we have no reason to complain because that is a defence that simply will not work.

when we start playing these soft zones, we allow a guy like amendola to look like jerry rice, I dont know is shannahan was mad that we ran too much 40 front or that we blitzed so much but I cannot understand why when you are playing the rams who are starting a couple guys on their Oline who have no business being in the NFL AND YOU DONT TRY TO GET PRESSURE?

I dont want to watch a season of this, if we want to win any games, we cant play defence like that.

I'll go so far as to tell you when I started seriously worrying about this game. It happened just before I logged in the chatroom and did a quick check of the other game scores and noticed the Panthers were whipping up on the Saints by 2 TDs late in the game.

The Saints. The Drew Brees led should-be-mad-as-hornets-and-be-taking-it-out-on Carolina Saints. That's when it came to me, the Saints are in trouble. I'm not talking losing a game trouble, I'm talking their season looks to be in jeopardy trouble. We didn't beat a good team last Sunday we beat a team that's just about lost it's way and leaderless-yeah, the pundits nailed it-Payton's absence did give us the edge-Aaron Kromer was completely out of his league facing Mike Shanahan, Spags D hasn't had time to really get set in place, they're a mess and it showed against both us and the Panthers.

And now we were going up against the Rams who basically outplayed the Detroit Lions up until a miraculous drive by Stafford last Sunday and they likely felt cheated and wanted to show the football world their real "grit" and they have a very good and clever coach in Fischer and the Redskins walked into a buzzsaw. The Rams are likely to surprise some people this season-not spectacularly-but a few eyebrow-raisers, you can throw out their recent history, IMO.

If we had had anyone but RG3 at QB we would have been blown out.

I have complete confidence in RG3 at QB. Period.

Damn near the same thing for Morris as starting RB, BTW.

Jim Haslett has used up just about all the slack I've been willing to give him-the only caveat is that I don't think in man coverage we'd have done any better in stopping Amendola.

The decisive play for me?

Kerrigan getting hurt. Bradford carved up our secondary at will after that. Bowen got to him as well as Rak once each but Kerrigan's pressure is more relentless and harder to compensate for. His absence crippled our ability to pressure Bradford and our sloppy version of zone coverage-not that man would've been much better-was amazing to watch. Holes were everywhere, a really good receiving corps would've thought it was Christmas.

You notice I haven't said anything about the refs or blocked punts? I'm not saying anything on the blocked punt until I know who missed what or who screwed up an assignment on that particular play or if the alignment was a poor one or whatever the real deal was with that. Regardless, somebody's head needs to be on a pike in a public place in Ashburn for that one.

The refs? Yeah they stunk-they're stinking up the whole NFL atmosphere.

Did they cost the Redskins the game?

Not by themselves.

P.S.-Shanny, please start levying fines for idiotic penalties.

Great post, Serv. I agree with every single point.

Though you meant Carriker, not Kerrigan right?

Serv, agreed except I believe you meant Carriker, not Kerrigan. Right? Or did I miss something?

Just stop with this. Enough already. Do you think the FO went into the off season planning to trade the farm for Griff, while also planning to not protect him? Mara and his butt-monkey royally screwed us. Doubly so, if you remember the timing. If I recall correctly, it was less than 24 hours before the start of free agency. Should the FO have been able to adjust? Sure, it's a nice idea. But how much notice did they get? Maybe a day or two more? A week at most? Hell, maybe no more notice than the rest of us. Would you really be surprised to find out that Mara and his pet ass licker wanted to totally eff up our off season? I wouldn't.

So they looked around (quickly) at the FA landscape and were unimpressed. or thought with an aging Moss, Garcon was more important. Or knew they couldn't match the big spenders for the OLinemen this year. Or thought (along with a lot of us) that the OLine was gelling nicely at the end of last year, and things would carry over nicely, and improve with return from injuries and suspension. Who knows.

I don't think the impact of Mara and his goon can be understated. Eff 'em both.

You are both right, of course. I meant Carriker.

My typing skills are intermittent at best and us "old guys" have these...well..."Senior moments" anyway...

It didn't help that I was still righteously pissed about so much of that game. I'm surprised I was even that coherent.

I don't know about a buzzsaw. The Redskins lost by THREE points on the road in a game we had a chance to win or tie at the end.

While there ARE other issues that lead to the Rams getting 31 points and the Redskins offense not converting the long bomb that was there, etc - the fact remains both NO and STL were kept in these contests because of blocked kicks.

So, if the special teams here were simply average and not awful we could have gotten out of NO with a 15 point win and perhaps pulled out a 4 point win yesterday.

While I get where you are coming from, Goal, I am also somewhat of the same mind as Ryman. Oh, not the Garçon signing. That one was necessary. But following that with the Morgan signing AFTER having our cap space cut so drastically seemed like bad money after good to me. No question we needed the help at WR but I question whether we needed two WR signings more than signing a real RT.

Granted, the coaches and medical staff felt like Brown had finally turned the corner so would be starting there but I always had my doubts. The guy seems to attract injuries like spring break wet t-shirt contests attract dirty old men and I wasn't alone in seeing things that way. I am not sure how we fans can predict some of this stuff while guys with more information can't.

did Mara and the goons screw us? yes but we spent money before that very stupidly

No, just no.
a few words for you.
1- Evan Mathis- anyone who has watched him the past few seasons knows the guy is a perfect fit for what shanny wants to do, he signed a very cheap deal and was a top rated Olineman, he is not massive but has great technique and was a top 5 rated guard, not top 5 rated free agent guard. the fact that we didnt even bring him in for a visit shows me that these morons are clueless about Oline.

2-Garcon was a good signing if he can stay healthy and im ok with it because we needed reciovers, but morgan? wtf not while we had such massive holes on the Oline> anyone who thought this oline was anything more than just good enough to get you beat, wasnt watching very closely last season, we were physically overmatched, forced to use a seventh rounder as a starter and patchworked the line, we flashed at times but lets be honest, this line is nowhere near as good as some of you seem to think. I actually wonder if you are too busy watching sexy rexy throw deep to pay attention to the fact that they get no push in the run game, giuve up too much ground in the pass game, and just look physically overmathced the majority of the time.

we went all in with RG, we will win maybe 4 game with this line but im more concerned about RG3, id rather make sure his development isnt david carr'ed.
