Preseason is almost over and the final 53 man roster for the Redskins is almost set. But there are still questions about who should be on the roster and why. Today I'm going to look at how many open spots are left for players fighting to get on the final 53 and some players to watch who may be potential practice squad members.

QB: 0-1 spots available
Kevin Hogan
Hogan went from a "camp arm" early in camp and the Patriots game to a interesting prospect as we head into the final game against Baltimore. Hogan is a long shot to make the roster primarily because there are bigger needs and better talent at other positions than Quarterback. That said, if Hogan has some Practice Squad eligibility left, he has a chance to be on this team one way or the other.

RB: 2-3 spots available

Rob Kelley, Samaje Perine, Kapri Bibbs
AP and Thompson are locked in as starter and 3rd down back. So the question then is do you keep 5 RBs? Probably not. It is hard to give up on Perine (a 4th round pick) after having an okay rookie season. Bibbs has fought hard to prove that he belongs on a roster and may be much more versatile than Kelley or Perine. Kelley impressed the team two seasons ago and may be a better blocker than the other two players but has struggled to get yards.

FB: 0-1 spots available
JP Holtz
Holtz has impressed as both a blocking TE and a FB last week for AP. That said, do the Redskins keep a FB? Do they believe they have a player that can fulfill that role without having to use a spot on Holtz? Right now it is hard to say.

WR: 1-2 spots available
Trey Quinn, Brian Quick, Cam Sims
At this point the question is do you feel comfortable with two rookie WRs in Quinn and Sims or do you feel a veteran is needed in Quick?

OL: 1-2 spots available
Tyler Catalina, Kyle Kalis
I think the Redskins keep 9 OL and if that's the case the final spot will come down to either Catalina or Kalis for the last spot. I think Catalina has the edge based on experience but this last game may determine where the Redskins go with the final roster spot.

DL: 0-1 spots available
Phil Taylor
Taylor's comeback story has been incredible. That said, the Redskins already have 6 DL making the team and Stacy McGee on the PUP list. At this point, Taylor is on the losing end of a numbers game as the 3rd NT on the roster.

OLB: 0-1 spots available
Pete Robertson
Robertson wowed last preseason so much so, that he was called up and joined the roster. He played well. The problem is that he would be the 5th OLB on the team. He might make the roster as a ST contributor, but will have to impress on Thursday.

ILB: 1-2 spots available
Zach Vigil, Martrell Spaight, SDH
Pretty sure at this point three players are locks at ILB: Foster, Brown and JHC. That leaves likely two spots for three players. Spaight has had flashes on both ST and LB. Vigil and SDH have been making good play calls and having solid camps.

S: 1 spot available
Troy Apke, Kenny Ladler
Apke should make the roster, but he is very, very raw and the Redskins probably don't want to see him playing S at all in 2018. Ladler has had a good camp/preseason.
