Burner's Burning Questions - Week Nine

The season took an ugly turn last week and there seems to be a great deal of dissension at Redskins Park. Let's hope this team can make a complete 180 from the latest game. On to the questions for this week.

1. That was very ugly. Can the team rebound from this latest loss?

Answer: Absolutely. However, it depends on the offense making some major changes and becoming much more consistent. If it happens, they have the tools to make a nice run a la 2005.

2. The season is at the halfway point. We're 4-4 now - what can we expect?

Answer: See the previous question and answer. I'm looking for an 8-8 record and while it may not satisfy some fans, we must realize that this is a step in the right direction.

3. Coach Shanahan has a contentious relationship with Albert Haynesworth. It seems to be spreading to Donovan McNabb. What can we expect out of these situations?

Answer: That depends on the players and coach. The Haynesworth situation seems to be slowly resolving itself and the defense has improved in recent games. The McNabb situation can quickly resolve itself if No. 5 can respond in a similar fashion to the last time he was benched (in Philadelphia).

4. That sounds nice, but it can backfire. Should Coach Shanahan make some changes in his leadership style?

Answer: I believe he should and be willing to admit some mistakes. When Dick Vermeil returned to coaching (the Rams), he was heavy-handed and the players had problems with his approach. Coach Vermeil made some changes and the players responded with two Super Bowl appearances (one victory). Mike Shanahan needs to make a few adjustments as well.

5. What are you doing with your extra time during the bye?

Answer: Watching NASCAR racing, some football, relaxing, setting the clock back one hour, and hanging out at BGO.

That's all for this week. See you prior to the next game.
