Burner's Burning Questions

Burners Burning Questions Week Twelve

Rate this Entry
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving with plenty to eat and plenty of good football. Time for some questions.

1. At ProFootballTalk, Mike Florio continues to toss several hints about Mike Shanahan being fired after this season. Is there any truth to it?

Answer: No. Mr. Florios job is to report on rumors and add some sensationalism to that site. It makes for interesting reading, but there is nothing to these latest rumors.

2. The debate continues about losing and winning this week. To be more specific, should a fan enthusiastically cheer for a loss?

Answer: As we mentioned last week, each fan is free to cheer as they see fit. BBQ recommends that those who openly cheer for losses should keep their feelings private. Members of the team/organization actively read message boards and the public tone should remain positive.

3. That was a good win against the Seahawks. Too, Rex has been solid the last two games. Does he re-sign in the offseason?

Answer: Assuming that the Redskins make the QB position a priority in the draft, it would be a good idea to bring Rex back. He knows this team and can help a young stud learn the system that Coach Shanahan uses.

4. Our division rival, the Eagles, continue to struggle with an all-star lineup. What will happen in Philadelphia during the offseason?

Answer: The fans may revolt (a la the Burgundy Revolution) and Jeff Lurie may fire Andy Reid with that kind of pressure. At the very least, the Eagles will jettison many players and rebuild.

5. Rex Ryan and the Jets are coming to town. The Ryan brothers are certainly a colorful pair. Are they good for the game of football?

Answer: Yes. Having interesting characters in the league is fun and adds a unique flair to the game. Let us hope that these coaches avoid the pitfalls of their father and the dirty play that the elder Ryan brought to the sport. Otherwise, lets enjoy the humor and fun that these siblings bring to us via the gridiron.

Thats a wrap for this week. See you again next Friday.
Hail to the Redskins!
