      Head Coach Jay Gruden

On the skirmish between two players:
“I did not see it. I don’t think until I see it on video, which I don’t think anybody got it on video, I don’t know what happened... He [Defensive Line Coach Jim Tomsula] just said they were messing around a little bit.”

On how he feels about the team’s progression during the last four weeks:
“I think it went great. Like I said the other day, the most important thing in my mind was to get these guys in great physical shape and I think Chad Englehart and his staff did a great job. And then Larry Hess and the trainers did a good job getting the guys back, trying to get them back to full ...

      Hi.

      My name is John.

And along with some other wonderful guys and gals, I run an internet forum.

Running gag between me and Brother Om. One day, we were discussing the crazy obsessions and behaviors of those peculiar cats known as 'internet geeks'. 'Mark...' I said, pausing for maximum dramatic effect. 'We ARE internet geeks.'

      And so we are.

Something is happening on the web today though that saddens me. It's been going on for quite some time now. One of the most amazing vehicles ever invented to spawn discussion, conversation, argument, and passionate dialogue - the internet forum - is dying a slow but inevitable death.

Go to any messageboard, discussion forum, ...

      Head Coach Jay Gruden

      On RB Chris Thompson:
“He will be available eventually. That’s the plan. We are just going to play it by ear, but he’s made unbelievable progress. He’s a lot further along than anybody anticipated except me because I knew he would rehab quicker than anybody. He’s in great shape. We’re not too concerned.”

On if it is easier to throw new schemes and plays at a veteran quarterback like Alex Smith:
“Oh, for sure. He still has got to learn the terminology so you have got to be careful. Sometimes you assume you’ve been in the league a long time and he went to Utah – he’s very, very smart – you throw too much at him. We still want to control our pace but there’s really not a lot we can throw ...

      Head Coach Jay Gruden

On his impressions of RB Rob Kelley accepting the challenge of more competition this offseason:
“It’s been a positive impression for sure. You know, Rob’s never been an issue as far as work ethic is concerned. He’s always gone out and done his job and been very engaging in the meetings, comes out here and takes what he learned in the meeting room and accepts the challenge and plays well. So Rob’s doing a good job. It’s good to have him healthy, watch him run around. [He] got a haircut. No more dreads on him, so he looks a little different. I think he’s lost a little bit of weight. He looks lighter. But nothing’s changed with the way he’s played. He’s accepted the challenge, like you say, and done some really good things… It’s early, we’re not live, but I like where he’s at.”

On the next step in Kelley’s development:
      “Consistency ...
