Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2016 (Continual Updates)

      Greetings from BBQ World Headquarters.

Happy St. George’s Day to our BGO brothers and sisters in England and Canada.

Offseason free agency is churning along at a much slower pace, but BBQ is here to keep you informed.

New mocks are coming next week as we head into draft week.

There has been a disturbance in the Redskins force. Or an awakening in the Redskins force. Or a signing in the Redskins force. There are significant changes in this FA update. You can feel this Redskins force. It is good.

We take the latest chatter from Redskins Park and media pundits as BBQ tries to formulate what could happen in the coming days, weeks and months. Who will the Redskins target, re-sign and release? Feel free to offer your ideas on free agency and the draft.

      Seasonal Updates:
This section will now be devoted to periodic updates.

The Redskins now have about $240,000 overall in cap space and haven’t restructured a contract thus far. The top 51+Pool cap is about $5.4M

Trent Murphy added a lot of bulk and muscle to his frame in recent months. He will continue to do so. Guess who is now going to be a fulltime defensive lineman?

Murphy checks in at about 280 pounds now. He is looking to add another ten pounds or so of bulk and muscle. Your new 3-4 DE.

The Redskins are interested in trading out of the first round according to various reports.

The Redskins appear to be targeting next year as an offseason that is aimed at keeping key players. If the cap remains the same, the team will have about $35M in cap space.

The cap next season is expected to conservatively rise by about $10M or as much as $13M. That would give the Redskins about $45M to $48M in cap space.

Assuming a new contract for Kirk Cousins is in place this summer and after a post June 1 release of Andre Roberts, the Redskins could have $50M to $58M of cap space for 2017. Possibly a bit higher.

There is some chatter about a possible trade during the draft for one of our receivers. It’s only a rumor – for now.

The draft strategy for Scot McCloughan will only change a bit in light of offseason FA additions – one specifically.

We’ll update the free agency as needed and as media chatter warrants. Give us your thoughts on free agency and what you think will happen.

      Hail To The Redskins!
