Abandon Ship! Abandon Ship! Trying to write this weekly blog is really becoming so difficult with each loss. Welcome to week fourteen questions and grades as the Redskins put forth very little effort against the Rams. The frustration for the team and fans continues to mount. With no further hesitations, let’s get right to it. Feel free to offer your own grades, opinions, suggestions, and ideas. Also, we have some questions to close out this fourteenth week of action.
Let’s take a look at the grades.
Quarterback:
Colt McCoy is a nice person and could be a long term solution as a backup for the Redskins. He is not a starter.
Grade: D
Running Backs:
Alfred Morris had a tough outing, but Silas Redd provided some spark coming out of the backfield.
Grade: D+
Wide Receivers:
Pierre Garcon had one of his best games of the season and Santana Moss brought back some good memories with a fine day. The younger players need to step up.
Grade: C
Tight Ends:
The tight ends were not a factor on Sunday and produced nothing of note.
Grade: F
Offensive Line:
Their worst outing of the season is the reason for scoring no points. Their lackluster effort and attitude means this group of players may be checking out before the season ends.
Grade: F
Defensive Line:
Shaun Hill had a QB rating of 133. Yes, that Shaun Hill. Chris Baker did have a sack, but he also celebrated a tackle as a recoverable fumble was occurring. Is there anything else you need to know?
Grade: F
Linebackers:
The best unit of the day had a good game overall. Trent Murphy continues to progress in the right direction and Will Compton is showing that he can be a starter. Ryan Kerrigan is in beast mode.
Grade: B
Cornerbacks:
It’s obvious that this group is suffering from a lack of depth and youthful inexperience. The only positive is that some of these players are gaining valuable experience.
Grade: C-
Safeties:
Lack of depth and numerous injuries are taking a toll on this unit. Phillip Thomas is getting some experience and Ryan Clark is on his last legs.
Grade: D
Special Teams:
Tress Way had a subpar day and the special teamers were horrendous.
Grade: F
Coaching:
The team was not prepared for Sunday’s game. The game plan did not work. The team played poorly.
Grade: F
Week fourteen passes into the history books. How would you grade each position and the coaching staff? What are you looking for in the coming week against the Giants? Will the ongoing sagas keep the team winless the rest of the way? Do you cheer for losses and a better draft position? On to week fifteen!
See you again next week.
