    • BGO Guest Mock Draft: Mark Tyler, Hogs Haven

Burner’s Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2019

Greetings from BBQ to everyone in BGO land and guests from social media – we hope you become a member here.

Today, we bring you the latest guest mock of the off-season and it comes from a Redskins fan and pundit – Mark Tyler of Hogs Haven, where is the lead author, editor, and moderator. He provides draft analytics, free agency articles, and detailed insights on the Redskins for Hogs Haven on a daily basis. From the heart of the Keystone State, Mark is a fan of the Penn St. Nittany Lions and his children are future athletes to watch.

I contacted Mark early last week and he was more than happy to provide the latest guest mock. He went above and beyond the call of duty with a meticulous look at free agency and then he provided BBQ with a mock that included a prognostication of the first fourteen picks. From there, our latest guest mock specialist went directly into what the Redskins could do in late April – all of it with a thorough look at each prospect. As you will see, Hogs Haven has a great leader and dedicated football expert in Mark Tyler.

BBQ will continue the guest mocks each week until early April and we will feature a Redskins fan/mock specialist. It became a popular feature last year and we are happy to bring it back to BGO.

In this mock from Mark, he looks across the college football landscape for several prospects and he did include a player from Penn St., but let’s be honest - that prospect is a solid choice. I enjoyed looking at his mock and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Without any further delays, let’s take a look at Mark’s mock.

      Mark’s Seven Round Mock:

      2019 Off-Season:

      Redskins extend:
Brandon Scherff - 5 years, $65 million ($8 million cap hit in 2019)

      Redskins re-structure:
Jordan Reed - $2.5 million savings

      Redskins release:
Josh Norman - $8.5 million savings
Stacy McGee - $2.3 million savings
Vernon Davis - $5 million savings
Zach Brown - $5.75 million savings
Mason Foster - $2 million savings

      Redskins re-sign:
      HaHa Clinton-Dix – 4 years, $32 million ($5 million cap hit in 2019)
Arie Kouandjio - 2 years, $5 million ($2 million cap hit in 2019)
Adrian Peterson – 1 year, $3.5 million (incentive based)
Zach Vigil - 1 year, $1 million ($1 million cap hit in 2019)

      UFA Signings:
      Shane Ray EDGE
      Jesse James TE
      Darqueze Dennard CB
      Kwon Alexander ILB

2019 NFL Draft (Top 15 picks):
1 - Cardinals: Nick Bosa EDGE Ohio St.
      2 - 49ers: Josh Allen EDGE Kentucky
3 - Jets: Quinnen Williams DT Alabama
4 - Raiders: Ed Oliver DT Houston
5 - Buccaneers: Greedy Williams CB LSU
6 - Giants: Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio St.
7 - Jaguars: (acquire Nick Foles via trade) - Jawaan Taylor OT Florida
8 - Lions: Montez Sweat EDGE Miss St
9 - Bills: Jonah Williams OT Alabama
10 - Broncos: Cody Ford OT Oklahoma
11 - Bengals: Devin White LB LSU
12 - Packers: Jachai Polite EDGE Florida
13 - Dolphins: Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma
14 - Falcons: Christian Wilkins DT Clemson

15 - Redskins: Drew Lock QB Missouri
Lock has the prototypical size NFL teams are looking for, and an absolute cannon for an arm. Despite the dip in stats from his junior year, I thought Lock progressed as a passer, improving his pocket presence, progressions and release. He didn’t have a great supporting cast at Missouri, but he looked good during the week of practice at the Senior Bowl working with much better overall talent.

RD 2: Deebo Samuel WR S. Carolina – The Skins need playmakers on offense, and Samuel offers them just that. He has good size (6’0” 215) and great run-after-the-catch ability. He could line up all over the formation to create mismatches.

RD 3: Michael Deiter OG Wisc. – Deiter has great size (6’6” 321) and very powerful hands. He’s not the most nimble of foot, but once he latches on to a defender, he knows how to finish. He comes from an O-line factory at Wisconsin and should be physically and mentally prepared to step into a starting role as a rookie.

RD 3 (projected comp pick): Amani Hooker SS Iowa – Hooker is a versatile safety who can play in the box, or as part of a tandem in a two-deep look. He is good when asked to blitz, and can be used as a robber in underneath coverage due to his solid instincts and ability to break on underneath routes.

RD 5: Dax Raymond TE Utah St. – Raymond is still a work in progress as a route runner, but he has strong hands and will fight for extra yardage after the catch. He’s a willing blocker, who uses his hands and leverage on reach blocks.

RD 5 (projected comp pick): Blace Brown CB Troy – Brown is a tall, athletic small-school corner with good press-man coverage ability and plus ball skills, who has the ability to be a starter in the right system down the road.

RD 6 (projected comp pick): Shareef Miller EDGE PSU – Miller could have benefitted from another year in college to refine his game, but the Junior has some skills that will translate well to the NFL. He’s a long, rangy athlete, with a great motor and good fundamental strength at the point of attack.

RD 7: Derwin Gray OT Maryland – Gray is a developmental prospect who could fight for a spot on the two deep at offensive tackle, or even kick inside to guard.

      BBQ’s Thoughts:
Thanks to Mark for all of his research and a superb look at free agency and what the Redskins could do in the draft. He put a lot of thought and work to this mock – thank you, Mark. Feel free to comment on any aspect of what he mocked to the Redskins.

BBQ will have a free agency update tomorrow and a mock draft on Friday.
