Burner’s Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mock Drafts, Camps, Roster Predictions, 2018

Greetings from BBQ to everyone here at BGO. We hope you have had a good week. Hello to everyone on social media. We’d love to have you as a member here and become a part of the family.

Congratulations to the Washington Capitals on winning the Stanley Cup. Let’s hope the Redskins aren’t far behind with a Super Bowl trophy.

OTAs and mini-camps are ongoing. Training camp will be here soon. We’ll cover it all and give everyone at BGO the best coverage possible.

BBQ continues our off-season evaluations. We will examine the various positions and give an assessment. Today we feature the defensive ends and shortly we will look at the defensive tackles. We’ll post an evaluation of each group for the next few weeks.

      Let’s get right to it!

      Defensive Ends:
      Jonathan Allen
Jonathan Allen was off to a great start as a rookie, but a lisfranc injury ended his season. Look for him to have a superb 2018 with a defensive line that was significantly upgraded recently.

Allen could put up very good numbers and may have an outside chance of being selected to the pro bowl.

      Daron Payne
Payne was the first round selection in this year’s draft and he could have a solid rookie season. Look for him to be an opening day starter opposite from Allen.

Payne could play inside on occasion and will also provide a good pass rush at times.

      Ziggy Hood
Hood is very underrated and with the new additions at tackle, he can move back to the end. That is where he is most effective. He did a respectable job at tackle and could be used sparingly there at times.

      Anthony Lanier
Lanier was thought to be nothing more than a fringe roster addition or even a practice squad member at the beginning of the 2017 season. Injuries forced him into a greater role.

Look for Lanier to have a backup role this season and to have a decent impact when giving starters a rest.

      Other Defensive Ends
Tavaris Barnes is unlikely to make the team.

There is our latest look at roster positions this off-season. In a couple of hours we will look at the defensive tackles.

      Have a great weekend.

      Hail To The Redskins!
