Is It Time?

You know what the best thing is about movies? The journey. Think about it. When's the last time you were completely Kaizer Sose'd at the end of a movie? Usual Suspects aside.

When's the last time you had no earthly idea what was going to happen next? Inception? Maybe? Memento? There are precious few movies anymore that a) leave you guessing until the end, and b) leave you completely confused about what is really going on until the end.

And that's usually OK. ...

2. Burner's Burning Questions - Week Twelve

Which team will show up on Sunday? This season continues to be full of surprises and frustrations. On to the questions.

1. Which team will show up against Minnesota indeed? The team that beat some heavyweights or the team that loses to bottom dwellers?

Answer: For now, Minnesota is a bottom dweller. But they are better than the record suggests and a coaching change could bring a spark for them. We'll see what transpires on the football field.

Why do we Care?

Why do we care so much? How is it that when someone I never met, and had precious little chance of meeting, passed away unexpectedly, it affected me for days? How is it that three years later, it still affects me?

I have such strong memories of Sean Taylor flying around the field, wreaking havoc, just playing like the meast he was. But my enduring memory will be when I got online at my desk in my office and saw that he passed the night before.

Just shocked. ...

Nerd Alert (Part Deux)

Last time I did this, we looked at the Redskins' O-line, today, horror of horrors, we are going to look at the D-line. It ain't pretty, kids. Better put the wife and kids to bed first...

Most, if not all of these stats are courtesy of Footballoutsiders.com.

Let's look at RB yards gained first. On average, we suck. 5.04 ypc, worst in the NFL. Only the Colts at 5.01 are above 5 ypc also. The leader ...

5. Week 12 - Minnesota Vikings

Blognosticator - LoyalSkinsFan

“Just don’t have a heart attack.”

Six words spoken to me yesterday by my mother prior to the game against the Titans.

I was born in September of 1963. Best I can tell, since then, there have been 192 preseason games played…..727 regular season games played……and 33 postseason games played. Subtract from that total about five years worth of games that, realistically, I probably didn’t watch or listen to due to infancy and ...

6. Embracing a burgundy and gold obsession of 40+ years.
My off-beat look at the trials, tribulations, and triumphs
inherent in the world of a lifelong Redskins fan.

Taking Our Medicine

Patience.

It may be a virtue, but for Redskins fans, it is a commodity in short supply.
And who can blame them? With a new regime rotating in and out of Ashburn triennially, Skins fans have been in a state of constant flux between despair and unbridled optimism that ‘this time’ things will be different.
Let’s face it – NFL fans are hardly renowned for calm, rational judiciousness. We are creatures of passion. We’ve turned crucifying Daniel Snyder into a national ...

The Mouse That Roared

If diminutive Pat Fischer, legendary Redskins defensive back of small stature, big heart, and vicious hits was known as ‘Mouse’, there can be only one appropriate moniker for lightning in an even smaller bottle, Washington’s return specialist Brandon Banks.

Mighty Mouse.

The electrifying Banks has generated more excitement and thrills in his five games in burgundy and gold than some NFL players do in a career. A blip on the NFL radar as an undrafted rookie at season’s ...

8. Burner's Burning Questions - Week Eleven (Again?)

I know. I missed week ten and last week's eleven was supposed to be ten and now it is the true eleven. Understand? Ok, let's get to the inevitable - the questions about you know what.

1. Ugly. Very ugly. How ugly was that performance?

Answer: It was very ugly indeed. These Redskins should not be a recognized as a team that is ready to win the division, win a playoff spot, or have a winning record.

2. Was it a mistake to give Donovan McNabb a ...

9. Week 11 - @ Tennessee Titans

Blognosticator - servumtuum

I had a general idea of what I was going to write until Monday night.

I decided to come up with something else.

How to beat the Titans or, more accurately, how to make them lose.

The Titans have weaknesses in their game that make them vulnerable to losing-four teams have done it and they have some things in common in their wins.

I going with generalities first and then more specific factors. ...

History

Thank God I don't associate with any Eagles fans. Whew. That was awful last night. Good God. I know everyone hates fantasy stories, so I will keep this under 10 seconds of reading time:

Up 63 points with no one playing going into the game. Lost to Vick and DJax. Ouch.

Our "defense" (for you, BB) looked completely lost. Missing tackles, out of position, not seeming prepared at all to account for Vick.

Ouch. ...
