This is a fledgling community, so maybe it's the appropriate time to show our faces around here and get to know each other.

Let's see what you mugs and mugettes look like :)

I'll start the proceedings.

My brother Jim and I, with about 20 Maine Lobsters we had flown in at the beach this Summer ready to eat. I'm on the right.

when I click your thumbnails it tells me I dont have access to it.

Mike,
Not sure what's going on (may be something on your end) - I've checked and double-checked settings. As far as I know, haven't heard anyone else having that issue, but if anyone does hopefully they'll let us know so we can fix it if there's an issue on our end.

I did turn off the 'thumbnails' so that the full-size image shows up in most cases. Let me know if that made them visible for you?

Boone, I'm having the same problem as Mike-right now I'm not even seeing the thumbs, just a link to the original jpg's which, after I click on them, brings up the "do not have permission" message.

Boone

Enjoy these days with your son. My is 18 and will be going to college next year. It happens all too fast. Have some great memories taking him to his first Redskin game and many others.

Proudest moment was leaving after a loss and grumbling. The asked him how he enjoyed the game. He responded wish we had won, but loved spending the day with you. Will never forget that moment.

So, spend all the time you can with him before he asks for car keys.

On the summit of Mount Timpanogos on Saturday,(didn't have time to draw over the BYwho letters). Rumors have it that's around 11,749 feet above sea level. Considering the view and the drop offs in front of me and behind me,I'm willing to believe that. :)

Ok, is the drop-off directly in front of you??? If so, WOW!

The trail to that shed sits directly in front of me. However, there is a slope in front of that then a roughly 70 degree drop off that goes down a few thousand feet. It's nothing but boulders and rocks for much of that. Call it,10-12 feet,(being generous),in front me and down about 6 feet. On the other side of that shed there's about 3 feet of ledge at one part then a couple of thousand feet of drop off. I was hanging on for life outside that shed when I first saw that.

Bet that was a view worth the climb :)

It was that. Here's what I saw from near where I was standing and in front of me.

Vegetarian doesn't mean eating only vegetables. However, it does mean no meat. I do eat fruits, legumes, beans, tofu, soy. I take a protein supplement. However, I can not eat meat of any type......not even fish. I do however, eat by products of animalsm such as egg whites, cheese and yogart.

LMAO, the funniest part of that cartoon is the backstory, a few years ago I was dating a model, she was pretty Famous in the modelling world. anyway, she took offence to the cartoon because she thought it was a shot at her being aloof, when she complained about it to my friend doug (who made the cartoon) He burst out laughing and said " seriously, you thought that was about you? Don't you know that everything is about Ryan effing Bellerose?" so she gets home and of course proceeds to start calling me Ryan effing Bellerose and to this day (we remain good friends) she still calls me Ryan Effing Bellerose.

No worries on that count, brother. We are enrolling the Ainsley in an online virtual school for Kindergarden. If it is half as good it looks like it might be, she will likely do grades 1 through 12 with them too.

Man, my daughter did 1 virtual class in her sophomore year. She took it so she could squeeze in another class, and even as a very focused kid, she constantly fell behind because of work for other classes.

I'm sure if it's all virtual, it should be much more controlled, but what about all the extra curricular activities they'll miss out on over the years ?

Lots of ways to do that, Miles. There is a home school network locally that has everything from a band program to a football team. There is a girls soccer club just up the street and she has been in swimming lessons locally with a place that feeds right into a swim team if she is interested. My wife and I both have a ton of theater contacts if she wanted to do that. All her closest friends go to the same church.

It was an initial concern of mine as well but any objections I had have been over come by the school program they have in place. She will get a better education this way then the local elementary school could give her and I will have a lot more control/input into the curriculum. I really believe this is the direction education will take in the future.

This is democracy and capitalism at work.

Sounds outstanding ! Many of the points you brought up are what I feel kept my daughter on the right track. Church, sports, band, and Odyssey of The Mind. Her team made the world finals for the third time in 4 years.

Oh, your daughters are just little darlings....

But I'm also gonna include a few pictures (okay more than a few) of my "Redskins room". I've lived in a mobile home for 20 years and never had room for a "Redskins room".. so while I"ll post myself here, I gotta post a few pics of my room as well. The bowling ball is from a celebrity bowling tournament my late husband bowled in with Neil Olkewisz (sp) and Neil gave him the bowling ball. The framed picture is of my dad and if you look closely the jersey is #33, Sammy Baugh. My dad saw him play. I got that frame at a yard sale the weekend after Sammy Baugh died for a quarter. They knew not what they had. The mirror is above the mantle above a fireplace.

Here are more pics. That goalpost cover is from the goalpost at the December 31, 1972 game against the Cowboys. That's all I'll say for that :) The dog is Taz on my Redskins couch. The one corner above my television has the Superbowl teams, pictures of myself with Coach Gibbs and Chris Cooley, as well as older pics of Dider, Riggo and Theismann in Superbowl pics. The rug, obviously is that, in front of my Redskins fireplace screen and you can see in the corner my Redskins recliner. The last pic is on top of the bookcase my dad made and among others is a "players contract" I had made up with my brother's name. The jester's hat above it has the majority of my hat pins (well maybe not even majority) but a lot, including the hall of fame pins for all the Redskins who have recently gone in -- Gibbs, Green, Monk, Grimm, Hanburger. I wish I had a Riggins but I don't as I was there when he was inducted.

Thanks for the reply; but you know, you are not measured in what you have, etc., with regards to the kind of fan you are.. it's what is in your heart. That doesn't cost money, etc. I just happen to have a few neat things that have come my way through a lifelong family history of redskins fandom. The few things I have that mean that much to me makes up for all the "stuff" money can buy.

The goal post is neat though.. until now I just did not have anywhere to put it and show it off.

Thanks for all the neat comments, but remember, being a REDSKINS fan is in the heart.. it's not measured by how much "stuff" you have. Anyone with money can buy "stuff". Some of mine mean the world to me because it is Redskins and it has some sort of emotional attachment, whether it be my family, my late husband, or friends. (That's not to say that people who have the money to buy stuff aren't fans, but that's not the way to measure the degree of "being a fan".. if you know what I mean)... if I had money.. trust me, I'd have "stuff"... I just treasure what I have.

I'd MUCH rather do better in the NFL Pickem :)

As silly as it may seem one of my favorite things is a crystal dish with the Redskins logo etched on the top my late husband gave me and inside is a marble on a stand.. just one marble with the Indian Head logo on it. You'd miss it if you weren't looking for it, but he gave it to me the night he proposed.

Anyway, attached though is a picture of my newest addition. Friends of mine had a store in Manassas (Two Days Gifts) which closed earlier this year. They "pulled" something from the store for me and I was just able to get with Katie this past week to get what they pulled. Among what they pulled was this...it's roughly 24 inches in diameter/square (it's in a black "frame").

I love it :)

The ride around the lake can be tiresome this time of the year with all the tourists. Sleep Hollow is in Floral City, mostly farm land with some nice rolling hills, and actual twisty back roads. Did just over 530 miles Sunday.

The pic with the bike is actually about 100 yards off Lake Okeechobee, on the edge of the town of Okeechobee. It's where me and the boys do our annual camp out. Friend owns the land, and the cattle don't mind us getting drunk and silly.

Can't take credit for the shot. The reverend is a professional photographer, and was directing the 4th rider, Jim, on how to take the shot being Jim was a wuss and didn't get dressed up.

He's really funny and very eccentric actually. He'll pull over all of a sudden, line us up, and will be laying on his belly in the middle of the road to get his shot. Blowing sig smoke in front of the lens, and all sorts of goofy stuff to get his shots. He'll also spot things off the side of the road, turn around, and will have a 20 minute conversation with some old farm hand.

Meetin the people as he likes to say. He's the best to ride with, knows every little town, and out of the way places to stop and take a break throughout most of the country. Europe and N Africa too. I may have to write a book about him. His stories are off the wall.

Thank you Boone. Okay, here we go. I was picking up some more golf balls, a glove, and tees for an early round tomorrow morning. I was at the grand opening of a Dick's sporting goods, and ran across this gentleman signing autographs. Let's see if anyone can correctly guess his identity.

Me and the girls on "Little John". Mom and Dad bought this tractor before I was born and Dad used to give me rides on it just like this. Now I get to give my girls rides on it. Someday, they will no doubt learn to drive on it just as I did.
