"The President's campaign focused on giving targeted groups a big gift-so he made a big effort on small things," Romney told donors on a conference call, first reported by Maeve Reston of the L.A. Times. "Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars."

Romney claimed Obama had been "very generous" to blacks, Hispanics and younger voters, according to the Times, insisting that the policy decisions had been a decisive factor in high turnout that tipped the scale against him.

I agree. Also, without knowing what these "gifts" are it sounds like politics 101. On the campaign trail, you kiss babies and promise a chicken in every pot. Isn't that what every politician does? Isn't that what every politician has always done?

In fact, wasn't Romney promising gifts in terms of tax breaks? Spending increases for education, military, etc? When he was promising a new pipeline?
I guarantee he had gifts laid out for his base. Things he knew his party desired.

Don't get me wrong burgy. I think this resident has been giving his supporters gifts since he took office. The so-called stimulus was pure payoff money. He will be even worse in this second go-round. But Romney doesn't need to say it.

He lost because he wasn't the preferred horse of the media.

Hillary gets her 8 years beginning in 2016. The R's won't win the white house until 2024. If then.

Of course, we'll be even more broke then, than we are now, and a member of the European Union's Western Division.

Pretty pathetic for a member of the media to admit not knowing - or even trying to ask.

Maybe it was giving young people a deal on their education loans - eh, no more interest.

Maybe it was the "Obamaphones" that were given out freely.

Maybe it was giving illegal immigrants' children and young illegal immigrants a free education at taxpayer expense - along with the promise to not deport.

Maybe it was allowing adults to be on their parents healthcare insurance plans.

Maybe members of the media will actually do their jobs. Eh, that is just a dream. Media 101.

Those are gifts - it is more than obvious. Just trying my to put my pseudo-journalist skills to work here - and that is without any formal training. I didn't have to look any of it up either - that stuff is out there and way too obvious.

Btw, a tax break is not a "gift". A tax break is an economic tool that is used to stimulate the economy on a local, state, and/or national level. You get a return on tax breaks. What kind of return will I get on Obamaphones? Or allowing illegals to get a free ride?

Personally don't give a rats ass what republicans do.

It is my personal opinion. He, O'Tool, was/is their boy. He was supported 100% by the media machine, while whothe****ever the R's, or I's for that matter, had put up, they would be under constant attack for any, and everything they said or did, whether it was real, or invented.

It will be the same in 2016. The media support, just like the black vote, is a guaranteed lock.

Which seems to indicate that when the republicans do it it's for sound, economic reasons but when the democrats do it it's for lazy poor people and buying votes.
