It's Baaack!

The Contest

BGO is proud to bring you the 2012 NFL Pick 'Em Contest! It's simple, it's fun, it's free, and we know as fellow NFL diehards, you'll want to play. Each week, beginning with the Week 1 pre-season games (because we can't wait for the fun to begin) and culminating with Super Bowl XLVII, you'll compete against your peers in selecting every NFL game winner for the 2012 season. Only the regular season and playoff games (including the Super Bowl) will count for the contest results. The pre-season games will be for practice only, and give you time to master the game software. You'll have until 1 hour prior to the start of the first game of the weekend to log-in to your account and pick the straight-up winner of every game each week. Following the final game each week, we'll post that week's results including the contest leader for that week as well as the season to-date leaders.

Can anyone unseat 2011 Champion SNF and pry open his deathgrip on the coveted BGO NFL Pickem trophy? Maybe 2012 is your year?


The Prizes

It's all about the bragging rights, right? Of course it is! But the winner of the 2012 BGO NFL Pick 'Em Contest will earn more than that. Prizes for this season's contest winner, and the 3 runner-ups are as follows:

1st Place NFL Pick 'Em Winner
The NFL Pickem player with the best final season record (including all regular season, playoff, and Super Bowl picks) will win our grand prize, a beautiful BGO Fleece Jacket, BGO ballcap, and an autographed copy of Jim Lehman's 'Then Gibbs said to Riggins...'. The overall winner will also sport the highly coveted and extremely attractive BGO NFL Pickem Winner avatar until they are unseated as champion.

2nd Place NFL Pick 'Em runner-up
The NFL Pickem player with the 2nd best final season record (including all regular season, playoff, and Super Bowl picks) will win a beautiful BGO Insulated Coffee Mug and a BGO ballcap.


3rd and 4th Place NFL Pick 'Em contestants
The NFL Pickem player with the 3rd and 4th best final season record (including all regular season, playoff, and Super Bowl picks) will win BGO ballcaps.


'The Swami' Award
Any contestant who picks every single winner of every single game correctly for a given week will win a BGO ballcap .


Disclaimer: This contest is intended purely for the recreational enjoyment of BGO members. No fees to play the contest will be requested, collected, or accepted. Although prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and 3 runner-up contestants, prize winners will be selected, and all other terms determined, at the sole discretion of the BGO site ownership. Contestants agree that upon registering for the BGO NFL Pick 'Em Contest, they forego all rights to contest final results or dispute prize winner selections. Staff and Owners of BGO are not eligible for prize awards.

How to Play

All registered members of BGO are eligible to play the 2012 NFL Pickem Contest. To enter:

1. Contact Us and select the "Join the BGO NFL Pick 'Em Contest" option from the drop-down menu. Give us 24 hours to setup your account and you'll be ready to begin making picks!. Deadline for registering to play this year's contest is Tuesday, 4 September, 2012.

2. Once your account has been setup we will private message you here at BGO with your contest log-in information. Then, simply go to the BGO NFL Pick 'Em log-in page and enter your log-in information into the "Pool Member" fields. Make sure you are not trying to access the "Pool Admin" area, well, because you're not the "Pool Admin."

3. When you are completing the log-in fields:

- "Pool Admin ID" is BGO
- "Alias" is your BGO username
- "Password" is the one provided to you via private message.

4. Once logged-in, you'll see a link for the "BGO's 2012 NFL Pickem Contest" on the left hand side of the homepage. Click Open and you'll find yourself in the schedule screen where you can make your picks one week at a time or all at once. Don't forget to enter your tie-breaker information for the game identified by the * (your best guess as to the game's combined total score).

You will be able to revisit your picks and/or make changes as many times as you like prior to being locked out at the start of the first game that week. In this section, you may also view a "Recap Report" for the week once all games have been completed. All results by week and for the year, as well as contest player standings, will also posted following the final game each week.

Remember, deadline to register to play is Tuesday, 4 September, 2012 at MIDNIGHT.

The Rules

The rules are short and sweet. First of all, you must make your own picks, and you must select a winner for each and every contest each week. Do not share your user log-in or password with anyone else. In the event you have any problems selecting your picks or other issues with our pickem software, alert us via the 'Contact Us' link and we will work to resolve the issue. You may enter, re-enter, or change your picks at any time up until the start time for the first game of that NFL week. Although you will have access to the Las Vegas spread while making your picks, you will receive points purely for selecting the 'game winner' regardless of spread. In addition to making picks for all games each week, you will also be asked to provide a 'tie breaker' total. In the event you tie with another player for a given week, the player who selects the combined 'total score' for the identified 'tie breaker' game (identified by an asterisk* in the selection screen) most accurately will receive additional points.

In the event you 'forget' and 'miss a week' of making your picks (it happens) - you are still alive in the overall contest as the 2012 BGO NFL Pickem champion is determined by the player with the overall highest number of combined regular season and playoff wins.

I still have my password from last year so should be good to go.
