Default Why I Could Never Be A Democrat

I'm not now, nor will I ever be, ok with Jared Laughtner still breathing and getting to live out his life after what he did. I think cases like this should end on the streets like they do in Rio de Janeiro, but I think at the very least people like this should be executed immediately after trial when there is no doubt they were responsible. No last wishes, no last meal, no family goodbyes. No need to afford them what they didn't afford their victims.

Not only that, I'm more than ok executing rapists and pedophiles too. And nobody could ever present an argument compelling enough to change my opinion on that. These people have no place on this Earth, and it disgusts me that we have to foot the bill for their food, healthcare, etc. for however long they manage to live.

To hell with them, kill em all.

Such irony in the title vs the text. Sigh.

Please enlighten me to the irony. Democrats are against the death penalty. They are the sole reason many states did away with it. I fail to see what's ironic, honestly.

Jared Laughtner was ruled by hate. That hate manifasted in obsession and then murder. He struck at the democrat he hated most and innocents.

You choose this moment to not decry his monstrosity or the hate that led to the repulsive act, but to instead attack democrats.

To me that's irony. Why do you choose to decry the party instead of decrying the act or the actor? You choose to hate the democrats in a thread in which democrats were attacked by hate and it led to the deaths of innocents and severely damaged a good woman's life.

    Your target is misapplied here.

Jared Laughtner himself was a Democrat. I assume based on your response you were not aware of that? And he wasn't just filled with hate, he was filled with crazy. I did plenty of decrying what he did when he did it, and don't see the point in rehashing something so horrific. It has no place in a discussion about me wishing his demise was sooner rather than later.

And for the record, nothing I wrote here was anti-Democrat, no matter how much you want to believe it was. It was explaining the absolute main reason that I myself could never be a Democrat. If you said you could never be a Republican because of their stance on abortion, that would not be an attack on the Republican party. It would be defending your personal convictions, just as I am doing here.

Doesn't matter in the least to me what he called himself.

What I care about in this argument is the manifestation of hate and its misapplied use. You want to start a thread about a mass murderer to make an argument about your hatred of a political party? To me, that's a bit absurd.

We need less hate and less division in this world not more people randomly taking potshots, stereotyping and creating division especially where it's unnecessary.

(Mind you, I'm also tired and grumpy... but I think your approach here is really lousy. It's cheap and unworthy of you)

No, what's absurd you still acting like this thread is about something it isn't. This thread isn't about hatred of a political party. That was only implied by you. It's about my hatred for Jared Laughtner, and the fact a political ideology that keeps people like him alive is so widely supported.

And Burg, do yourself a favor and drop the act. You've been all over this board today just completely full of yourself, and taking potshots at everyone while gloating and pretending we're in a fantasy world of miracles and dreams coming true. We get it, you're excited. It's no reason to go into every thread and turn it around into whatever you want to talk about and pick a fight with everyone, then accuse them of doing exactly what you came into the thread to do. Are you on a bender? Go home Burg, you're drunk.

Notice how no one's joining with you on this one?

The OP is fine. It's well written. The title you chose for this topic sucks.

This isn't me taking potshots or gloating. You want to see me gloating look back at when I got to interview Mark Hamill or when my book finally got a publisher. This ain't my gloating. The fact that you see it that way is telling.

I'll say it again. The title sucks tied to this topic. Shame because the topic itself is worthy.

Events like this or Denver, Columbine, or West Virginia ought to be handled better. When that guy tried to shoot up the Holocaust museum, no one really said that is a reason to not be a Republican even thought the guy based on his writings was a conservative nut. Why? Because that line of thinking is insane.

Democrats are not the enemy nor are Republicans. Idiots are. Both parties do have ideas that are dumb, even destructive. You are certainly welcome to pick a party and stick with it... maybe I'm over-reacting to the title. I just think the implications are ironic and over the top.

There's nothing at all ironic with the topic. Perhaps you should educate yourself on what irony is.

The title isn't ironic either. Just because you repeat something over and over and over, doesn't make it true. You liked stroking your ego by saying "notice nobody is joining you?" Well guess what Burg, I don't exactly see support swinging your way either.

Graphic is funny. In this forum I almost never expect much support. You, however, are part of the majority here.

Anyway, you're right. We're chasing our own tàils. I leave you w the last word

    Extreme, Burgold is right. Sorry.

FWIW, I could never be a democrat either. But my reasoning is more simple and direct. They're currently the party of villifying success. Not cool. Not cool at all.

I couldn't be a democrat because I don't believe in legislating 'fairness' the way the democrats seem to. As much as I hate the 'war on entitlements' the republicans are championing (maybe it's just the way they're going about it that I hate), they have more right about it than the democrats do in my opinion.

I can be a Democrat because I can disagree with Democrats on an issue (in this case, the Death penalty) and not be immediately considered a DINO or something.

As of last year only 51% of Democrats opposed the death penalty.

This is not much of an issue for the party. It's more of a states rights issue than a Democrat/Republican one at this point.

Which makes it a big deal for Libertarians, because it's a states rights issue, and even one for Republicans as both Republicans and Democrats seem intent on making states rights a thing of the past.

I'm a firm supporter of states rights. I think we'd solve more problems if they were handled at the state level.
