      On cornerback Bashaud Breeland:
“I think we got the best case scenario, probably, for what we thought. While he was withering in pain there we thought it was pretty bad, but it looks like it probably will be four to six weeks. He's a fast healer. Similar thing happened to him last year and he healed pretty quickly. We'll take it day by day, see how it is.”

On if cornerback Justin Rogers could fill that role in the slot:
"We have Justin Rogers, we drafted Tevin Mitchel. He was a nickel in college at Arkansas and he's going to get some reps. We're going to try Kyshoen [Jarrett] in there a little bit today so we’ve got some guys in there to fill in.”

On the assets of a franchise quarterback:
“I think the successful ones that you're talking about, they've done it game ...

On his goals for the first practice:
“Well, just continue what we’re doing. It’s an extension of what we’ve been putting in through OTAs from last year, getting the new guys up to speed on what we’re doing, and trying to mesh as a football team, number one. Along the way, trying to find our top 53 guys for the regular season. So there’s a lot to do, a lot of people to look at, but we feel like we have the talent out there that it should be great competition across the board and also implementing our system, no doubt.”

      On free agent Junior Galette:
“Well, we’re going to get a physical on him and then go from there. We’ll get a chance to talk to him. He’ll meet with Scot [McCloughan], he’ll meet with myself and then we’ll make a determination on where we go from there.”

      On the team’s conditioning today:
“Everybody looked good out there. We just did a simple conditioning test just to get a gauge on where they are. We let them know before they left for their vacation what the test was going to be so they had a chance to prepare for it. It was pretty simple for everybody and everybody looked good running it.”

On players who missed time earlier in the offseason with injuries:
“We got a clearance on all of those guys – all five of those guys that you mentioned. We expect them to be full-go. We’ll monitor them as we go but we expect good things from all five of those guys. Trent [Williams], Jordan [Reed], DeAngelo [Hall], Ryan [Kerrigan] and Morgan [Moses] — they’ve all got a clean bill.”

On how important it was to extend linebacker Ryan Kerrigan’s contract before training camp:
“That’s exciting for him, man. I’m happy for him. Great kid, obviously. Drafted ...

On if he is starting to see the results he was seeking this offseason:
“I am. I was just making mention of that today. Just looking at a lot of the players, they just look like they’re physically in better condition and that’s half the battle. At this time of year, you want to try to make sure that you strengthen your bodies obviously, get them in the best shape possible and obviously strengthen their minds in the meeting rooms. Then, you know, start to slowly implement your system and how you want to go about your business on the field, the habits that you want to start to create. We feel like great practice habits in the weight room will lead to great things and that’s what we’re all about.”

On what pleases him most about the team’s offseason so far:

On Defensive Backs Coach Perry Fewell and safety Dashon Goldson:
“Coach Fewell brings great experience with him on his résumé. 1) He’s a great person – very loyal guy – and 2) he’s been productive where he’s been. He’s been in the division. He knows the division. He knows the opponents, knows the Giants, obviously. Great wealth of knowledge. Any time you have a guy with experience as a defensive coordinator… You know, we have a young defensive coordinator, you add a guy like Perry Fewell to help in that transition process, a guy that understands his role, understands football, it was a great addition for us. A lot of respect for him going against him the last couple years. He’s a great addition. And then of course Goldson, he’s an experienced guy. He’s tough. He had some great seasons at San Francisco, went to Tampa Bay, might have ...

      Show me.

Historians attribute Missouri’s ‘Show Me’ moniker to U.S. Congressman Willard Duncan Vandiver, who served in the United States House of Representatives from 1897 to 1903. While a member of the U.S. House Committee on Naval Affairs, Vandiver attended an 1899 naval banquet in Philadelphia. In a speech there, he declared, "I come from a state that raises corn and cotton and cockleburs and Democrats, and frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I am from Missouri. You have got to show me.

      No, really…

      Show me.

Myself? I come from a state that raised me on a winning football franchise, NFC East dominance, consistent smackdowns of ...

      On wide receiver Jamison Crowder:
“I really don’t want to make a comment… We’re aware of it. The NFL is aware of it. We’re just going to go from there.”

On if he has talked with Crowder about it:
      “We’ve had conversations, yeah.”

On if he addressed cornerback Chris Culliver’s comments from a couple years ago prior to free agency:
“No, that was a couple years ago. He was on another team at that time, so that’s not an issue.”

On linebacker Ryan Kerrigan and wide receiver DeSean Jackson:
“Ryan Kerrigan is in the same situation as we were last time. He’s going to continue his rehab process. We’ll get him ready for training camp. DeSean Jackson – he had a personal matter to attend to today. He’ll be back tomorrow.”

On tight end Jordan Reed and tackle Trent Williams:
“Nothing new with Jordan Reed. Trent Williams, same thing.”

On college programs running spread offenses and how it affects preparing a quarterback to play in the NFL:
“When you’re a college football coach, you’re doing whatever you think is necessary to win. That’s what it’s all about. There’s a ...

On what he learned from his first season:
“I think you never stop learning as a coach. You know, you’re always going to learn something about your team, about yourself. The older you get, the more experience you get, so it was a learning experience last year. I think just knowing the players and the coaching staff around me, I have a better feel for what they can and can’t do and how we need to push their buttons a little bit more effectively to get more out of them. You have to battle, and coaching is getting the most out of your players and trying to figure out what buttons to push and I feel pretty good in that regard in Year 2.”

On the progress of quarterback Robert Griffin III:
“You know, today was his first day and last week – last couple weeks – we were throwing routes versus air. He’s doing fine. We’ll see how it goes. He’s just got to continue to put practice after practice together and show the consistency that we’re looking for.”

On how Griffin has handled the offseason so far:
“Robert’s got great work ethic, No. 1. That’s never been a question, you know? He works extremely hard. So I’m satisfied in that regard. He comes to work every ...

On his impressions of the rookies so far:

“I think part of the plan is to throw them some information and see how they can retain it, and then see how they can translate the information they receive on the field. It’s a challenge for a lot of them. I think, overall, they made good impressions on us, a lot of them did. It’s exciting to see. They’ve worked extremely hard. They’ve studied, and they go out there and practice with great urgency and tempo. So, I was impressed with a lot of them.”

      On Preston Smith’s length:

“There’s no question. His length is what draws you to him initially, and then you watch him play, and he uses that leverage to his advantage. Especially in the run game, when people are at the point of attack, he does a great job of using that leverage to his advantage and then using that ...
