      Head Coach Jay Gruden

      On the injury report:
“Did not participate: Matt Jones, knee; Terence Garvin, hip. Limited: [Jamison] Crowder, groin; [DeSean] Jackson, hamstring, shoulder… [Brandon] Scherff, shoulder; [Trent] Williams, knee; [Jordan] Reed, concussion; [Josh] Norman, concussion; [Spencer] Long, chest; [Bashaud] Breeland, ankle; and Vernon Davis, groin. Full was everybody else.”

On the timeline for RB Matt Jones after not hearing about an injury following the game in Detroit:
“Don’t know, we didn’t either. You know, he just came in I guess today, had some soreness laterally, had some pain cutting. He was OK running straight ahead, so we kept him out today.”

On if there are any worries that G Brandon Scherff and T Trent Williams will not play Sunday:
“There’s always worries. If they’re on the injury report, we’re a little concerned. So they’re sore, but hopefully in time they’ll be OK.”

On if this game will be treated differently regarding injuries because of the travel schedule:
“No, we’re taking everybody which is a good thing. Everybody’s going so if something happens on Friday or Saturday then we’ll make adjustments as needed. So the timetable, timeframe won’t change.”

On if TE Jordan Reed and CB Josh Norman will travel if they pass concussion protocol:
“That’s the plan, yeah. Hopefully we’ll know by—with those ...

      Head Coach Jay Gruden

      On the injury report:
“I’ve got… five injures to report. Trent Williams, knee. He got the MRI. It’s already out there. He’s structurally OK. That’s good news, but we have to still monitor him during the week and see how he does. He’s a little sore. [Josh] Norman, he’s in the concussion protocol. That’s all we can say right now. [Brandon] Scherff had an AC sprain, he’s sore. He’s a tough sucker though, but he is sore. We’ll have to monitor him throughout the week. [Bashaud] Breeland, ankle, it’s his left ankle, his other one. He’s got a sprained ankle and same thing; he’s going to be sore. And Jordan Reed, he’s cleared to practice on Wednesday and we’ll go from there.”

On if TE Jordan Reed will be active Sunday after being cleared to practice: ...

Greetings from the international headquarters of BBQ.

Week six is in the books and now we take a look at how the entire team fared against the Eagles. In many ways the Redskins completely dominated the troglodytes from Philadelphia, but a couple of mistakes allowed the score to be much closer. It was the fourth straight win and we will try to make some sense of it all as BBQ hands out grades, evaluations and questions. Feel free to offer your own grades, evaluations, ...

The Lions are coming off two wins in a row with a hot Matt Stafford leading the way. Now the four-game-win-streak Redskins come to town to try to stop the Lions streak at two.

How are Lions fans looking at this game? In a lot of ways, actually-some optimism, some pessimism, some uncertainty-the usual stuff.

Like I have seen a lot recently they are expecting a tight game.

They generally acknowledge two things-Stafford has been playing ...

      Head Coach Jay Gruden

      On the injury report:
“[Josh] Doctson did not participate. DeSean Jackson did not with his shoulder and Jordan Reed did not with a concussion. Full were [Su’a] Cravens and everybody else.”

On if there was a setback with TE Jordan Reed:
“Not a setback, we just thought – the medical staff thought – today it was best to keep him out. And he’ll get evaluated today again – or tomorrow, I’m sorry – by the independent doctor.”

      On WR DeSean Jackson’s status:
“DeSean’s just got soreness in his shoulder and we chose to keep him out today.”

On if Jackson will play Sunday:
“Yeah, as long as it’s not his legs, but we’ll see. We’ll see how he’s feeling. You know, seriously though, he’s sore right now but [we will] continue to get him treatment today and we’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow.”

      Head Coach Jay Gruden

      On the injury report:
“Did not participate: [Josh] Doctson, Achilles; DeSean Jackson, shoulder. Limited were [Su’a] Cravens and [Jordan] Reed, concussion; [Spencer] Long with a knee; [Trent] Murphy, shoulder, knee; [Trent] Williams, knee; [Chris] Baker, knee and toe. Full were [Josh] Norman, wrist; [Martrell] Spaight, shoulder; [Dashaun] Phillips, hamstring.”

On the status of TE Jordan Reed and what the doctors have told him:
“Yeah, he is going to see our team doctor today. He did a little bit more today and then Friday he’ll see the independent doctor. We’ll know more really after Friday. We’ve just got to continue to progress him along and see how he’s feeling after more of a workload.”

      On if it is “pretty unlikely” Reed plays on Sunday;
“No, not at all. It just means we have to wait and see what the independent doctor says and see how he does going through some work outside, you know, on a limited basis.”

      On S Su’a Cravens:
“Same thing, same thing. He’s probably a little bit further along but he still has to… This is just increasing his workload and he’ll see our team doctor today and then he’ll see the independent guy Friday.”

      Blognostication – October 23—Detroit Lions/Ford Field

Well, bear with me in my first attempt at blognostication. The Redskins are traveling to Ford Field to take on the 3-3 Detroit Lions. We are coming off a 4-game winning streak and the Lions a 2-game winning streak.

This past game with Philadelphia showed that just PERHAPS our coaching staff is learning the fine art of balanced attack. With 34 Pass attempts, ...

On what it’s like to dominate a defense like they did in the first half:
"It’s not easy to do, but it’s certainly an expectation from the coaches and from ourselves that when we go into games, what we need to do as an offense, we need to impose our will and execute at a high level. Again, in spurts today I think we showed what we are capable of, and the challenge will always be to do it from the first whistle to the last. It was a good offensive showing because so many guys contributed and made a difference and we need to just keep learning from the mistakes.”

On what the mindset has been like in the locker room the past four weeks:
"You can never hit the panic button in this game. All I know to do is take it one week at a time and we will see where we are when the dust settles in January and hopefully in February, which is always the goal. So you just have to keep playing. If you hit the panic button in this business, you don’t belong in this business. We just tried to stay the course, work very hard, prepare very well, and trust if we do that then good things will happen in the long run. It won’t happen every single week and that’s part of playing in the NFL. They test you every single week.”

On TE Vernon Davis’ performance in today’s game:
      "Vernon did ...

      Opening statement and injury update:
"Alright, the only injury of note – really there isn’t one. [Will] Compton got banged up there and came back in the game. He’s OK.”

On what four straight wins after starting 0-2 says about this team:
“Well, it shows that they put in the work and they’re resilient and we understand situational football pretty good, the importance of each down and the next down. We can overcome things that happen. You know, we gave up a kickoff return and then an interception return back-to-back. Guys staying resilient. Just kept working, kept grinding. That’s pretty ...
