    Jackson!

    by , 04-02-14 at 04:28 PM (BGO.C.D.)
With apologies in advance to the great Johnny Cash

Signed a receiver in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout,
BGO’s been talkin' 'bout Jackson, ever since Chip Kelly kicked him out.
We’ve signed Jackson, you better start lookin’ round,
Cause if you blink your eyes
    You’ll never run him down.

Well, go on talkin’ down Jackson; go ahead and tell yourself.
The mans bad news, cause the signs he use, NFC gonna need some help
    Cause

  2. An Open Letter to DeSean

by , 04-02-14 at 10:07 AM (Cake or Death?)
    Dear DeSean,
You'll have to forgive some of us. For every one Redskins fan excitedly jumping up and down this morning upon hearing the news of your signing, there is another fan, like myself, huddled in the fetal position in the corner. We've been hurt before, you see. In fact, I was at the Y this morning, sporting one of Skins workout shirts, and was accosted by a fellow weight-loser about the soundness of this signing. She asked me about all the other high priced stars the team has ...

  3. The Mock Drafts, 2014 (Continual Updates)

    by , 02-25-14 at 05:37 PM (Burner's Burning Questions)
Like previous years, BBQ will do a series of mock drafts and will provide continual updates based on team needs, free agency additions/losses, and injuries. Another mock will posted in mid March (after free agency opens) and will be updated weekly at that juncture. The frequency of mocks will increase as we get closer to the draft and it will be a daily feature in the final week. Feel free to add your own ideas and mocks as we go along.

  4. Offseason Edition, Free Agency 2014

    by , 02-06-14 at 07:54 PM (Burner's Burning Questions)
It is time to put the miserable 2013 season behind us and look forward to free agency, the draft, and a new coaching staff. In this first edition of the offseason of free agency, we will take a look at players that the Redskins could target, re-sign, release, and tender. We will continue this thread with updates until the start of the new season – March 11. After that time, periodic updates will follow. The first offseason mock draft will be posted in about two weeks and will have regular updates ...

  5. Quarterback Questions And Answers

    by , 01-29-14 at 05:51 AM (Burner's Burning Questions)
Just over one year ago, we had no questions about our quarterback situation. Robert Griffin, III was the unquestionable starter (even though he was facing an offseason of rehabilitation) and Kirk Cousins was the reliable backup. Unfortunately, the 2013 season happened and the Redskins were facing a long offseason with many issues and challenges. No one disputes that Griffin is still the starter, but concerns about his injury, effectiveness, leadership, flamboyance, football knowledge, and team ...

  6. Evaluating The Season’s Predictions

    by , 01-13-14 at 07:51 AM (Burner's Burning Questions)
In August of 2013, the Redskins were the defending NFC East champions and Robert Griffin, III looked as if he was progressing nicely in his rehabilitation from ACL/LCL surgery. Optimism was reigning and loftier goals were planned. BBQ had bold expectations too and offered predictions for all sixteen games. Let’s take a look at each game we present analyses and a grade for BBQ’s prognostications.

Jay Gruden to the Redskins-Views from the opposition-and more

    by , 01-12-14 at 06:45 PM
I was requested to do a Redskins Recon-I was actually planning to do something like this anyway-on reactions among our NFCE rivals' fans to the
hiring of Jay Gruden by the Redskins as head coach and am of course glad to oblige. I decided to add teams from the AFC North because they had
played against his Bengals offense and they might have some interesting comments.

Boy, was I right there-but it was not quite what I was expecting. There were some surprises ...

  8. Grading The 2013 Season

    by , 01-10-14 at 06:08 AM (Burner's Burning Questions)
Before we start to think that each grade on the season report card is a failure, keep in mind that there were some bright spots for the Redskins in 2013. Some does not equal many – keep that in mind too. The first blog for BBQ in 2014 is not a pleasant one and we all can hope that the first blog in 2015 will be much better. The 3-13 football season was certainly full of ugliness and the Redskins also added a lot of negative drama to the mix. Let’s take a look at the grades.

    Edit: ...

Redskins Recon Special-The HC Hunt-Who's Fishing In Our Pond?

    by , 01-02-14 at 04:36 PM
I thought it might be interesting to check in with Seahawks, Panthers, Giants and Ravens fans to see if they had any commentary about the idea of the Redskins interviewing and possibly hiring one of their coordinators for the Skins HC position.

Seahawks fans had a few comments, some were really interesting(!). They pretty much expect a raid on their coaching staff anyway.

Panthers fans have a lot to say about possibly losing McDermott to the Redskins-or anyone elase ...

    Blognosticator - Neophyte

This was someone else’s slot originally. I had not intended to ever write another Blognostication, at least not during the regular season, after doing the very first one but after a volunteer told me they could no longer do it and this long season wore on I realized that I could not stick anyone else with this task. Writing this last one of the season should be a joyful task undertaken with glee and a grin big enough to make the Cheshire Cat proud. ...
