    Two Things

by , 09-13-15 at 07:08 AM (Cake or Death?)
Yeah, I know. It's been a while. But let's be honest: the last two years haven't been much fun for Redskins fans. 2012 was ah-mazing; I've already started to repress 2013 and 14. Anyhow, it's the start of the 2015 season, and I'm sure this will get lost in the shuffle of our first gameday of the season, but I want to get something off my chest.

    Two something's, actually.

First, Screw You, Mike Shanahan. Yeah, that one's like a 234986849 on the Obvious Scale, ...

    Manage This. Please.

by , 01-02-15 at 01:23 PM (Cake or Death?)
We've all had managers, yes? Good ones, bad ones, horrendous ones. We've all had people who exert a great deal of control over one aspect of our life, sometimes to the point that it impacts other areas of our life. I apologize in advance, but I want you to remember what it was like when you had your worst manager ever.

You know, the guy who scheduled you at times you specifically requested off? The gal who was unrelenting and demanding, without ever expressing anything but distaste ...

    Solution

by , 11-27-14 at 07:16 AM (Cake or Death?)
No one likes a complainer. We all know them. Everyone needs to vent when they are frustrated, but eventually if you aren't offering solutions to the problems, you're just bitching. And no one likes that.

I vented on the BGO forums yesterday. If I offended anyone, I apologize. I am still deeply frustrated by the situation with my beloved football team right now, and now I am ready to offer a solution. It's a big, risky move that Snyder would have to make, but I know it would ...

    Big Shot Bob

by , 11-19-14 at 02:47 PM (Cake or Death?)
Remember Robert Horry? Dude won like 20 titles (all numbers approximate) in the NBA with the Lakers and Spurs, and always seemed to hit a key three or two during a playoff run.Horry had a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and being able to step up and deliver when it mattered the most.

Here's hoping Robert Griffin can deliver when it matters the most.

I'm talking about this weekend. Friends and family of Redskins fans are on suicide watch after ...

    Hope Starts Now

by , 10-31-14 at 10:33 AM (Cake or Death?)
Anyone remember when Matthew Stafford was injury-prone? Could stay healthy? In his first two seasons he played 10 and three games, respectively. In the season opener in 2010 he injured his shoulder, came back on Halloween to beat... the Redskins (sigh), then reinjured that shoulder a week later and was done. He had arthroscopic surgery done on his throwing shoulder and was done until the next year. All the media experts were wringing their hands that this talented kid was injury prone and would ...

    The Tipping Point

by , 10-01-14 at 09:26 PM (Cake or Death?)
No, I'm not predicting some massive crisis for the NFL whereby the tens of millions of rabid fans who devour the NFL each Sunday (and Thursday) suddenly decide to divest themselves of the spectacle in pursuit of other, more moral endeavors. No, I'm talking about something far more serious. My own personal tipping point. I think we're getting close to it.

I love the Redskins. I love the history, I love the players, I love the coaches, I love the owne... all right, too far. I love ...

    The Evolution of a Name

by , 08-06-14 at 05:16 PM (Cake or Death?)
I have stayed out of the Redskins name controversy because I am conflicted about it. However, after hearing Daniel Snyder give an interview, and listening to the subsequent talking heads reaction to said interview, I feel compelled to join the discussion. For once, I thought Mr. Snyder nailed it. Absolutely perfectly.

(my one quibble would be the timing. Just as training camp starts and we all start to focus on the on-the-field action instead of the name controversy seems like ...

    An Open Letter to DeSean

by , 04-02-14 at 10:07 AM (Cake or Death?)
    Dear DeSean,
You'll have to forgive some of us. For every one Redskins fan excitedly jumping up and down this morning upon hearing the news of your signing, there is another fan, like myself, huddled in the fetal position in the corner. We've been hurt before, you see. In fact, I was at the Y this morning, sporting one of Skins workout shirts, and was accosted by a fellow weight-loser about the soundness of this signing. She asked me about all the other high priced stars the team has ...

    The Crazies

by , 11-08-13 at 09:45 AM (Cake or Death?)
As has been noted here before, huge Tim Olyphaunt fan here. I want to be Raylan Givens when I grow up. One of the better horror movie remakes lately was the Crazies in 2010 with Timmy starring. A really fun zombie-esque thriller I enjoyed.

(Do I need to do a Spoiler Alert for a three year old movie? If so, done.)

Olyphaunt plays Sheriff David, who has to watch his sidekick, Deputy Clank get infected with the Crazies and slowly turn into a monster. Pretty tense ...

    Time to Wake Up

by , 10-13-13 at 11:46 AM (Cake or Death?)
I had the weirdest dream the other day. The Skins were just... bad. Really, really bad. Painful at times to watch. Fumbles, turnovers, couldn't sustain drives, Griffin sloppy and ineffective.

    Bad, bad dream.

I mean, we lost to this gimmick college offense one game, and it was awful. Another team's starting RB said he sat out because his team didn't need him to win. And they didn't. Ugh.

Whatever. I'm just glad the real season starts today. ...
