1st in 2012, and a conditional 1st in 2013. Did Al Davis pull through after all?

Wow...I am shocked the Bengals parted with him and I feel bad for Jason Campbell, who was actually having a pretty good year.

I'm not shocked at all, except at how much the Raiders gave up for a QB with spaghetti holding his elbow together. Two first round picks! That's ridiculous!
Geez.....that's pretty shocking.
They paid huge.
Wow. Two first rounders ...
Considering he wasn't going to play for the Bengals anyway that's a pretty sweet deal for them.
He's a pretty good QB though. I don't think he's as done as Lanky does.

Interesting. Apparently it's not just the Redskins where the ghosts of the past linger. :)
Palmer is still a capable QB-even with noted weaknesses-maybe even a better fit in Oakland's system.
Pretty steep price, though.
Not so sure Al would have parted for two first round picks that could have been used on speedy receivers. ;)
Too steep a price IMO. I guess the Raiders have visions of winning the AFC West.

From the looks of this trade, seems like the Bengals are in charge.

They gave up too much obvioulsy. But the Raiders must really believe they can make a run this year. And why not? In the AFC, who ya got?
Pats - horrible defense. And what wins in the playoffs?
Bills - Pats-lite
Jets - ugh, no.
Chargers - see: Turner, Norv
Texans - they've NEVER made the playoffs, can we really expect them to make the SB?
Pitt - interesting idea, but they have looked REALLY bad this year
Bmore - maybe.
So, why not the Raiders? If they think Palmer can continue their momentum, and they can make a deep run, why not?
I happen to disagree with them, for the record. Lanky is right, Palmer was done three years ago. But Hue Jackson was a coach in Cincy when Palmer was good, so maybe he thinks he knows something the rest of us don't. Who knows, really.

Hue Jackson is making personell decisions for the raiders as of now

Baltimore will win the AFC hands down, IMO. Their only real competition is New England, because they have Brady. Possibly the Steelers if they get their S together.

don't forget the Raiders have traded away most of their other picks as well. seems like a move borne of desperation.

Since their option after Campbell was Kyle Boller that assessment may not be all that far off.

theyre hoping to get compensation back for Gallery and Nnamdi but theyve lost their 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7th.

Eh...David Garrard was out there, still unsigned. Kyle Orton could have been had for much less. This smells like a personnel guy wanting a specific guy, and willing to pay the cost no matter what. In other words, a Dan Snyder move.

Welp, apparently it was a first in 2011, and a second in 2012. Still paid too much, but much better than 2 first round picks.

Baltimore is definitely clearly ahead of the pack, including the Raiders.

Right now, sure. But do you really want to bet on Flacco in the playoffs?
I'm not saying the Raiders will make it to the SB, but if they believe they have a chance, albeit with Campbell, not Boller, why not make a move? It's more than I would pay, but if Palmer can come in and maintain what Campbell was doing, couldn't they make it to the AFC Championship game with a few breaks?

This could be the year he matures to the next step. And all he has to do is manage the game and he could be the next Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson.
So does this high-priced trade mean Campbell most likely loses his starting job when he recovers.

Well, that is the word on the street. We'll see. With Terrell Pryor, they are probably more apt to let Campbell go. But if Palmer is washed up, they will re-sign Jason. A shame! Wanted to see Oakland do well with Campbell under center. I would like to have seen Jason do well here, but am convinced he would never have been able to pick up this offense.

even if they did pick him up at teh time he wouldn probably not have lasted but a hit or 2 since he is needing back surgery

Fox News is reporting that Boller will probably start against the Chiefs Sunday. Probably a pretty safe move since the Chiefs haven't exactly been setting the NFL world on fire.
