Hi Guys,

I can't see the 5 o'clock club for some reason. All I can see is the banner at the top of the page with all black underneath. If I click anywhere in the black area it changes to teal, still with the logo banner showing at the top.

I checked a couple of the other forums and they're showing up fine. Do you all think this is a BGO issue or something with my work browser? ...stupid I.E.

Not seeing anything on my end Yusuf...probably just an internet hiccup on your end, but if it persists or if anyone else is having problems, let us know...

Thanks for checking into it. Given the IT issues we're working through, I'm not surprised it wasn't something at you guys' end.

so the new toolbar on the bottom is cool but I have something going on with mine.

when i click the "who's online" to show who is online it brings it up appx halfway out of the screen. it doesnt seem to resize with the window as you make it smaller.

and can we get a political assylum button? if not..all good.

damn, im posting a lot in here..sorry if i sound like a complainer. i dont mean to

are you guys noticing any lag time when navigating to the page for the initial time? i am from work and home. like if i go from my home page to BGO it will go black, hang for a few and then open the page.

Definitely some lag time navigating through BGO, but mostly from work. I don't think the problem is as severe at home, so I just figured it was something with the firewall here.

Quick nav button for Political Asylum added. As for lag times, I'll do some site maintenance and see if that helps. I'm not really seeing anything significant, but doesn't mean there's not an issue somewhere.

Guys...I just removed a ton of RSS-generated threads from the news forums on both sites hosted on our server, and ran a table repair/optimization. Pages are loading noticeably faster on my laptop.

Let me know if you see a difference.

Lanky Livingston

Definitely see a difference, much faster today.

on my PC at work as well. Youre the man!

Glad that seems to have taken care of it. I probably don't do site maintenance enough...my apologies....

You may want to tweak the RSS settings...its pulling in a ton of articles. :)

Site is slowing down again (at least for me). Maybe you can set a time-limit for RSS articles? Like a week or something, and then they are automatically deleted (unless there is a response).

Just a thought...

yeah, I get a black screen for almost a minute when I click on any link.

Boone

What do you mean 'click on any link'?

MikeSr619
07-09-11, 02:32 PM
coming to the home page it goes black and then finally loads

click forums, same thing

click the 5 oclock club button at the bottom and same thing

stuff like that

Lanky Livingston

Yeah, its taking forever to do anything today. Click on a thread and wait...I don't get a black screen, it just stays on the current screen forever.

dont know if you did anything but right now its cruising along.

I ran an 'optimize tables' scan... I really don't think whatever the issue is has anything to do with RSS feeds. We've gone 4-5 months without cleaning those up previously without having an issue.

I've been having trouble with this for a couple of weeks now. At first I figured it was my Craptastic Comcast service, but after reading Lanky and Mike's posts, and testing other windows/tabs with other sites, I am definitely having trouble loading things here. Not sure why though.

Keep me posted Goal...I'm trying to convince Om into going with the next level server account :) Meanwhile, I'll keep doing some routine maintenance to keep things as clean and smoothly-operating as possible. I'm tyrannical like that.

my first guess is the bar down at the bottom lagging with loading. that is a complete and total guess but i dont remember having any issues before. how large is it? could it may be taking too much time to load? does it load too much stuff that is not needed?

random thoughts from a random mind.

Your new nickname could be TB - Tyrannical Bastard. Like?

FWIW, things are clicking along now. Took a break to hang out with the kids and now that I'm back, things are going better.

I think we'll definitely look to upgrade the server, particularly if site traffic keeps picking up. It's about time. That said, we have so many add-ons at this point that the vBulletin base we're running on may be having a hard time keeping up. Toying with the idea of giving ourselves a "BGO Lite" option--without the million add-ons ... something you could use strictly when posting or if the "regular" skin is bogging down. Have to do some aesthetic work on the basis template (right now its blue and white and just WAY too Cowboys-like) but I think it's probably a good option to look at. Is that something you folks might find useful?

Lanky Livingston
07-29-11, 10:07 AM
Yeah, BGO Lite sounds like a great idea. I appreciate all the features, but most of the time I'm just here to talk some Skins.

Goaldeje
07-29-11, 10:27 AM
Mark, are you suggesting have two options when you log in? That might work well, that way we could select if we are here to chat (or not) or just find out about the latest news or whatever.

At bottom left of each page there's a drop-down box to choose the "style" you want. I'm going to temporarily activate the "Default" style to give you an idea what I have in mind. Did a little playing with the settings this morning to give a taste...a lot of fine-tuning still needed obviously but it should give the idea.

I'll leave it up for a day or two to let folks fiddle with it and see if it makes sense. :)

Goaldeje
07-29-11, 02:55 PM
Huh. The Default style is, ummm, interesting. Gonna take some getting used to. I will leave it this way for over the weekend to see if it performs better.

Make sure you refresh the page, Goal. You may be seeing a cached version. You SHOULD be seeing something like this ...

Goaldeje
07-29-11, 03:19 PM
No, it is, I see that. I've just been using the "Explod Fixed" version for so long I'm not used to anything new, that's all.

Om
07-29-11, 03:22 PM
I get that. No worries.

We'll continue to tweak the Lite version ... one thing I'll say for it already ... it's fast.

Goaldeje
07-29-11, 03:24 PM
No doubt. Lightening fast, actually. I'm also used to clicking on a link, then sitting back and waiting for a minute.

I'm doing crunches in my chair now, which I suppose is a good thing.

BGO Lite. Click your way to fitness. :)

thanks, Mark! it is MUCH better than before.

Whoah, this new style is superfast.

MikeSr619
08-05-11, 05:18 PM
not an issue but something I am laughing at. Every time I log in to BGO right now something changes. first the helmet and testing 1,2,3xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. then the saying. then the saying changed. now i see the font is going to change.

its got me logging in more just to see whats up...slow day at work.

Hey, can you guys change the links at the top bar in the BGO Lite version to include the pickem link? It's available in the Standard version, but not the Lite.

Neophyte
09-05-11, 11:19 AM
I'm looking at it, Goal. Looks to me like we add the upper links bar to the standard lower one for the Standard template but remove it for the Lite template. It's a little tricky moving stuff between the two so no promises but we will look at it.

MikeSr619
11-28-11, 07:34 PM
hey, no big deal but I am getting a lot of these errors when I click on links.
