My username should be familiar to most here, and I'm hoping that I'm the first to sign up from the deep south - southern hemisphere, that is!
How good is this? Somewhere that has all the basics, but none of the bells and whistles trying to keep up with the neighbours (yes, we spell neighbours like that down here).
I wasn't much of an NFL fan in my 'early' years, but happened to catch the 1982 (?) SB were the 'Skins tore Denver new ones (42-10), and I was hooked.
I'll try to participate in forums, but as I have very little knowledge of 'Skins history, my participation will most likely relate to current issues.

We've got some ideas coming to maybe make this place a little more 'international' :) Meanwhile, my wife is from South Carolina. That's about as close to the 'Outback' as we have near me ....

hi i,m jason a lifelong redskins fan win,lose,or draw i,m all about the burgundy and gold.i reside in north carolina in chocowinity nc . i can,t get thru a day without knowing what my skins are up too.so folks i hope to meet some more interesting skins fans in here that share the same common goal in the redskins.

Long time but faithful Skins fan here. A few years back I was pretty active on alot of the popular boards but have chosen to just read for the last couple of years. My same thoughts and frustrations were being expressed well enough by others lol.
I haven't felt very optimistic about this team for the last few years as well...I'm feeling optimism rising with the signing of Allen and Shanahan.

Just saw this thread so figured I would pop in.
I have been at Extremeskins for a few years now, but really like the feel of this site and the type of posters that are here. I constantly pop back and forth between the two.
My family have been Redskins fans for a couple generations being originally from the DC area.
And once again I start the never ending cycle of getting all psyched up through the off-season to the beginning of the season only to get my heart dashed again... Oh well, I cant resist.

My name is Max, and have been a Redskins fan for a long time. Can't really say I was a fan as a child cause I did not pay too much attention to it. But it really grew on me when I was a teenager. I don't post much, but I mostly read countless threads.

First off, a confession. I'm not a die hard Redskin fan. I am, however, a die hard football fan. Growing up an hour south of Green Bay, Wisconsin will do that to you. As you may have guessed, I am indeed a green blooded Packer fan and I make no excuses for it. It's in my blood and I devour all things green and gold. To this, I think we as football fans can relate and my hope is that my presence here will be tolerated - although I fully understand that for at least one week next season, I will be the enemy. Fair enough.
I am also a Soldier and have been for some time. Time enough that my dusty boots will be put up for good before long. Uncle Sam was kind enough to relocate me and my family to Virginia and, to be honest, we like the landscape so much so that we don't intend on leaving. Obviously, this will take some compromise with my football allegiances.
Truthfully, I have always been fond of the burgundy and gold and my hope is to cultivate a "hometown" bond with this team that rivals that of my hometown Packers. Heck, if nothing else, my dislike of everything Jerry Jones should give me a good start!
So greetings to all and here's hoping for some great conversation from level headed and knowledgeable football fans!

By the way, shedding anonymity here, it was I who recommended this place to this fine gentleman after the warm and respectful reception I received at that Packer fan board I visit. Hey, I'm proud of this place-as everyone knows I visit numerous team fan sites and this one is the cream of the crop. Besides, the Packer folks at APB's home board have graciously accepted the fact that I will be pulling very hard for a Redskin win when they come to FedEx-they even went so far as to guarantee their best efforts in contributing Ls to the records of the Gints, Iggles, and Cowbums respectively.
Just as an aside folks, although obviously the vast majority of our members ARE Redskins fans, we don't just *tolerate* fans of the opposition, but we welcome them. We've just added the ability for opposing fans to highlight their 'Rival Allegiance' by putting their NFL team's logo in the profile that shows up every time you post.
If you happen to be a fan of another team, let us know who it is and wear your fandom proudly - go to 'User CP', then 'Edit Your Details', scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the team you happen to root for.

You kinda did it again, Slacky, albeit inadvertently I'm sure. Don't feel bad. When I first really became a part of the community here (not long ago, mind you, in spite of my join date) I did the same thing.
With positive comments about other sites, we try to keep to saying something like "another site" or "that other site" and then explaining our thoughts. And as far as the negative goes, we just try to avoid it completely.
BGO has a very different feel to it. It's upbeat. It's positive. And it's member-driven. (That ain't just a slogan, believe me.) And that positivity comes, in large part, from the approach to this kind of thing.
Om doesn't need my input, but like he said, Skins fans are Skins fans. If we choose to join in what they do, fine. If we don't like some of things they're doing, we just won't comment. There are plenty of Cowboys, Eagles and Giants fans out there that we can criticize. But Redskins Nation needs to be one. (R you in?!) :)
I hope I haven't stepped way out of my lane here. I just thought that my good friend here would understand a little better, given that I've made the same BGO faux pas.

Oh, and when I say "member driven," I mean no disrespect to the owners and staff. I realize who does the real work here. But those same people go way out of there way to be very inclusive, and to make sure everyone has a voice. I could go on for days about why I like the way things are done here so much. But I know the guys in charge, and I'd quickly get frustrated with their humility and embarassment at compliments. :)

The chat is one of the best features here. It's almost like having everyone over to the house
One of my next projects is getting the chat to be a little less temperamental :) We love the modification we installed, but it's problematic with non-internet explorer browsers, and tends to have an occasional hiccup. We are hopeful we can improve upon it soon.

Took a break from all message board (ES specifically) for a long time.. looks like I Haven't been here since Feb 2010.
I Plan to be more active on the site, especially now that we have football again.

I went to Seattle for the playoff game. Douchebag seahawks fans, but amazing city and really neat stadium experience. If you don't mind the rain that is :)

Welcome back. We definitely need a shot of some more estrogen around this place :D It was getting to be a total sausage fest, I was about to go vegetarian.
