The biggest surprise on the Redskins’ No. 4-ranked defense last season was the play of rookie safety and seventh-round draft pick Chris Horton, who picked off a team-high three passes. Here Horton talks about Zorn and the signing of Albert Haynesworth.

I simply cannot wait to see how Horton progresses. Horton/Landry will never be as good as Taylor/Landry could have been, but they can definitely combine to become one of the better safety tandems the burgundy & gold have ever seen. And with the additions along the DLine, I think we will see both of them grab a few more picks this year.

I'm hoping the same thing. Horton will be a force if he keeps progressing. And I don't think it's really fair to compare him the Taylor. Taylor is definately the standard, but no one had seen his like since Ronnie Lott

I like Horton too. However, am I the only one who'd rather see us find another FS so that Landry could be moved to his more natural SS position?

I know the longer Landry stays at FS, the harder it will be to justify moving him. Still, it's hard not to think how scary good he could be were he to be played where he fits best.

You are correct. He is technically a hybrid similar to ST (although not as good...yet); although not nearly as big. But has the size and hitting ability to play SS, but the range and ball-hawking ability to play FS. The only reason we put him at SS was because we had Taylor already.

EDIT: Just looked, he's actually similar in size to Taylor. 6'2 212 vs. 6'1 210. Although I thought Taylor was much bigger than that - around 225-230.

I believe Taylor was almost 230# when he came out of college - but he trimmed down over the next few years to around 215.....

Overall - I believe the "D" will be OK...especially w/ all the infused money this offseason.

I'm scared the offense is going to continue to be as reliable as an escalator at Fed Ex Field.

Horton really played above himself last year and he has a lot of expectations to live up to this upcoming one...

players under that kind of pressure either really step up and become champions or crumble. Lets hope the first comes true.

and FWIW I would love to see Landry back at SS so he could knock some heads off.
